We grew up with paper maps in the glovebox and phones attached to the wall. Some of us learned GIS on a UNIX box. Most of us have strong opinions about our art.
Static Free started because the people who actually understand how the world is mapped — who've ground-truthed data in the rain, argued about coordinate systems at 4pm on a Friday, and watched clients ask for purple — deserve a shirt that gets it.
Not a shirt that says "I Love Maps" with a heart. A shirt that says something only they and about six other people in the room will fully appreciate.
That's the whole thing. No deeper mission statement. Just sayings that ring true to a select few, on shirts that are decent. Larry has been in the field long enough to know more isn't always better and sometimes getting lost is part of the journey.
