5 out of 5 starsOmg. This thing is gorgeous. So glad I bought it . Thank you Nancy Walker. I am very elderly with not so good health and I constantly knit, mostly socks. I will receive so much pleasure looking at this bowl while I make my socks.

4 out of 5 starsIt’s very cute, and I’m happy to have it. However it is a lot smaller than what I thought it was. It will still serve it’s intended purpose, I just need to check if the yarn will fit through the holes before I use some of the chunky yarn I work with. Which is a little saddening since I mostly work with chunky yarns. And it’s a little too expensive for the size in my opinion. I may not know the full break down to make a bowl like this, but it seems a touch too expensive in comparison to the size of the item. But all the details are very pretty and look a lot better than all the other yarn bowls I’ve looked at. So that would justify the price. But it was packaged VERY VERY well. Fully wrapped and with extra paper in the box to cushion it with fragile stickers on the box

How it all Started ~
My daughter, Amanda Kaffka, is a talented knitter/designer [ thecraftyjackalope.com] and I’m a potter who loves to knit and we are great friends (I know .....Lucky me) so we headed off together to the Seattle Vogue Knit Live in April (2013). A week before we left I had the idea to make a few shawl pins using my favourite fine porcelain and copper wire (I used to be a jeweler). I made up a handful of Pins and brought them to the conference just to see what might happen. We attended a great lecture about making a business in knitting by Trisha Malcolm, the Vogue Knitting magazine editor. After her talk, I went up to her with my little collection of pins just to ask her if she thought these were pursuing. Well, long story short. She was totally excited about them! Enthused, I got right to work in my pottery studio making Talking Pins, Pins that have uplifting, thoughtful messages. And Trisha Malcolm featured them in Vogue Knitting.

Frequently asked questions
Can I put anything other than yarn in my yarn bowl?
Yes, here are some ideas: You can place a small contained arrangement of flowers, or a contained tealight. When not in use, your yarn bowl is a work of art to place anywhere.
Is this yarn bowl strong?
Yes. It is make from a strong porcelain clay and high fired. I advise using it on a table or on a rug on the floor.
Custom and personalised orders
Yes, it's one of my favourite things to do, to work with you choosing an animal. I have made Lamas, particular dogs and cats, and even a moose. (custom orders are $25.00 extra and have a different delivery time than the ready made yarn bowls)
How well do there ceramic bowls ship?
I go the extra mile to pack my yarn bowls with extra cushion. I know that they will be tossed around during the journey to your home. Everyone has arrived safe and sound ~
