Woolly Meadows Felting is more than a farm...

Our desire was to create products from each animal's unique fibre so that they could live their whole lives happily growing wool on our farm. Our oldest ewe, Hessie, is 15 years old and has been with us almost since the start of our business journey over a decade ago! You've probably noticed, we love shetland sheep. The fibre from shetlands is naturally beautiful earth-shades (grey, brown, beige, black, white), and this makes our needle felting kits very realistic as well as being more environmentally friendly (as the wool dyeing process is not needed for many of our kits). Another feature of our kits is that they've been designed without the hassle of metal armatures or glass eyes which are quite intricate to work with - instead our felted sculptures are made with the strength of shetland fibre making them much safer around children and pets. (*some wire options are available in patterns*). We hope you love our kits, we sure love designing them and raising beautiful fibre from our flock.

Frequently asked questions

How Easy Is Needle Felting?

Our kits are designed for complete beginners in mind, so you can choose any one you would like to make! There are even free videos on our website, and if you have any questions we are here for you!

There's no sewing/ glue/ or knitting skills needed for felting, you are simply poking wool into basic shapes with your felting needle. The barbs on the needle entangle the fibres together which holds them in place. The needle has got a pointy end, so you do need to be gentle but it's really fun and wool is very forgiving. It's a wonderful craft to learn and is suitable for the whole family! You can also feel happy knowing our kits are made from sheep who are lovingly cared for :)
