Announcement The first pancake - A little weird, all good. **Update** Shipping prices are ridiculous. I if I was more paranoid, I'd think Canada Post doesn't want Canadians selling to Canadians. I had to stop putting in a fixed shipping price because, honestly, for some items, 90% of the sale is going to the postal service and to Etsy's fee. Etsy also doesn't understand how people shop, and also apparently doesn't believe Canada is really worth bothering with. There isn't an option for "calculated shipping for the first item, and additional items will be at an add-on cost determined by the seller" and it keeps telling me that $9.50 for domestic shipping is "too high" - even though the **MINIMUM** cost for shipping the item, within the same locale (so not next province.. I mean, within the same area) is $15. So thank the postal service for ensuring that shopping online is near impossible.

5 out of 5 starsSo HAPPY! Seller was so easy to work with, made my item exactly how I wanted it, checking with me each step of the way! I bought a custom pouch for myself but then my mom liked it so much, I gave it to her and got another custom pouch for myself! She loves hers and I love mine!

The First Pancake - Weird, but Still Good.
TL;DR version: *Please read the descriptions!* - I will work with you on the stupid shipping costs!
The items made are usually a first (ie: first time off a pattern, first time with a tweak, etc.). They're not machine-precision uniform, but they work.
If I've used someone else's pattern, there'll be a credit or link given in the description.
If the technology breaks down, I can't do anything (ie: no email, no internet, I am lost).
The 'website link' is actually to my VO page.
The Full Wordy version:
Quarantine happened, the VO career was and continues to be struggling due to reasons I literally have no control over - so crochet happened. I started running out of space and started gifting.
A particular friend was a recipient of one... (okay, maybe 3) of these random things and said "You should sell this stuff" - so here I am. Help me. I'm trying, despite all the factors that seem to be against it... particular Etsy's less than friendly options and Canada Post seeming to loooove ripping off Canadians (more in the FAQ section!)
I do custom orders - but it won't be quick. I'd be squeezing it in between the other job, the VO plus 'regular life things' - and depending on how full that is.. I could have hours a day or mere minutes to dedicate. This is why the "time to post" range is so long.
Most of these items are 'first pancakes': First time I've made it, first time I tried an adjustment, first time I franken'd parts of patterns together (the head from this pattern, with the legs from that pattern). If I created it, I'll say so - but if it's off someone else's pattern that credit will be in the description.
Darnit Jim, I'm a maker and Voice Actor, not a designer!
I also have a dog. I try to keep her out of the "yarn room" - but she's a smart one.

If you're willing to wait. Contact me for a time estimation first - my schedule is somewhat unpredictable and the item might cost more since it's 'to order'
Where the #*&$)%&* is my item?/Why haven't you sent it?
The tech deities have cursed me. Google will randomly and occasionally not show me mail for several days at a time despite my manual checking. I have set several alerts, and they will also just randomly stop working for no reason. I am sorry, and I'm trying my best.
Please message me and I'll respond if the system deigns me worthy to receive the message.
Care instructions
I would generally say - don't chuck anything of these in the washing machine willy-nilly, and the dryer is even more dicey. If it's a plushie, it might not dry fully and putting it in the dryer might do things to the plastic eyes. If the item is cotton and/or wool - shrinkage may be an issue if you put it in the dryer. No matter what it is though, If you do put it in the washing machine, I'd suggest using a wash-bag... juuust in case.
Where are you getting your pricing from?
From other sellers on Etsy - trying to stay within what others are charging - and if I charge more it's usually due to complexity. If I had to add internal structural supports (wires, plastic canvas, etc.) or special fasteners (magnetic buttons), this adds to the complexity. If I made clothing for the item that takes a LOT more time (because I am sooo not a clothing maker...) so that's uber-complexity.
What is going on with those shipping costs?
Thank CPC (aka: Canada Post Corporation) for this problem. They're doing their part in destroying Canadian sellers by making shipping costs untenable... TO OTHER CANADIANS.
When CPC says "lettermail" they literally mean "paper, cards, stationery". If I fold and squish an item that's not paper into an envelope, no matter how small or flat it is - if it's not paper - it will be charged as a 'parcel'. Thus Parcel mail rates will automatically apply.
Canadians are charged FAR more for shipping WITHIN CANADA than shipping to elsewhere. The same package: Vancouver-Vancouver = $14, Vancouver-Quebec = $22, Vancouver-HUNGARY = $11. Seriously, try it out on their website. If I don't charge shipping, I will take a LOSS on each sale.
