Hello!

My name is Mayra and I am the owner of The Happy Bear Company, a small home based sewing business located in Edmonton, Canada. I specialize in making bags, baby bags and baby accessories such as blankets, bibs, nursery decor and cloth diapering accessories. I design and manufacture all items myself in my small shop. I sell online, locally and work directly with local clients for custom orders.

I focus on using natural and sustainable man-made fibers, recyclable and biodegradable materials as much as possible in my products. My goal is to reduce the amount of plastic waste that is likely to end up in a landfill at the end of the product's life. Avoiding synthetic oil-based fabrics also reduces microplastic fiber pollution that occurs during regular washing. My materials of choice are organic fabrics, cottons, denims, hemp/bamboo, leather, Tencel and metal.
