I was born in the little north Texas town of Gainesville, into a very artfully gifted family. My father was a master leather craftsman creating everything from show saddles and truck interiors to chandeliers and purses out of hand tooled leather. My dear mother also a very talented artist and seamstress taught me the love of creating and sewing at an early age. I have always found great joy in taking something not very desirable and turning it into something beautiful. I very rarely leave anything in its original bought state whether it is new OR old. EVERYTHING…..seems to call for me to put my “mark” on it. My sweet husband says I’m like a dog that has to pee on every bush when he accompanies me shopping. I just MUST feel of everything!
I find all mediums of art to be something to put a hand to. I have created years of original fashion pieces from infant to adult, casual to pageant. Discovered a whole new love a few years ago when I escaped from the “canvas” box and painted murals on my own home walls. It was the most fun I had ever had with a paint brush in my hand. I loved the freedom of not having “edges” or boundaries. I could paint something as big as I wanted and if I didn’t like it….so what…I would just paint over it!”

It was an easy transition to add the “paint” to furniture. With my love for recreating mixed with my love of old used things….putting the two together was nothing short of pure joy. My house became wall to wall……….and my heart still craved more projects…….it became time to make my passion available to sell. I decided to share my creative gift with others. I consider my pieces true “originals”…. just turn on the music….get some paint and brushes….and do what comes to mind. They are a little “pieces” of ME. And needless to say….”me”….is as varied as the weather! I love the very old and weathered rustic time worn things, the soft romantic sweetness and of course you gotta have some lively gutsy glitzy glamour.
Of course…I am no respecter of WHAT I will put paint on…..ANYTHING is subject to get paint on it! I recently have made available on ETSY some of my “wearable and carryable” art. I personally have always LOVED having something that was totally different from what you could just go to the local mall and pick up. My love for making things has definitely been a great blessing in my life. I trust there are others out there with that same love for something out of the ordinary! They NEED something with that “LeahJane” touch!
