Sewing, stress relief and geekery ;)

The Mad Scrub Capper started when I decided to go looking for scrub caps in preparation for my first year of clerkship. It was this unsure time in my life where I knew that my life was going to become vastly different, but I just wasn't quite sure how. To try and ease that transition, I wanted some way to keep my geek loving personality close to me in this new world of anonymous boxy green scrubs. Although I found some great options, nothing really felt like it truly spoke to me, and so I decided to buy a sewing machine and make my own. Once I felt like I could in fact make these things, the next logical step seemed to be to try and share them with any other geeks that might find themselves in the same boat as I was, and thus, The Mad Scrub Capper was born!

Two years later and I enjoy the process of making caps and pillows more and more everyday. From searching for and designing fabrics, to matching colours and sewing the physical stitches, each item I make is a physical manifestation of my love for all things geeky and just the act of creating. This shop is a wonderful outlet for the stress that is medical residency and I'm so thrilled to be able to share the things I make with all you lovely people who have stumbled into my little corner of the world!

Hi, and welcome to my little shop :)

I'm a medical resident and a geek, and so this naturally led into wanting some geeky headwear for the OR or just whenever! If you have any questions about any item please don't hesitate to message me, and I will try to help.

Returns and exchanges
I gladly accept returns, exchanges and cancellations

Because of the nature of these items, unless they arrive damaged or defective, I can't accept returns for:
  • Custom or personalised orders

Please if you have any problems with your order.
A return or exchange can be made for any reason within 1 month of the purchase of the item as long as the item has not been damaged by the buyer.

If the item is being returned because the item was damaged in transit, the seller will cover the return shipping cost (basic mail for your country) when the transaction is refunded upon the sellers receipt of the item. In any other cases, the buyer is responsible for the return shipping cost (basic mail, no tracking number required).
Shipping
Items are shipped by air mail, Canada Post. Standard shipping costs with no upgrade do not include a tracking number. Shipping tends to take 5-7 business days to Canada, 5-8 business days to the USA and 6-10 business days Internationally.

If you require an expedited means of shipping or tracking number, this cost will be additional. These options are included in the "UPGRADES" menu of the shipping costs on each item. They are as follows:

UPGRADES CANADA:
Express post to Canada (which includes a Tracking Number) will cost $20.00 CAD for 2 business day delivery.

UPGRADES USA:
Express post to the USA (which includes a Tracking Number) will cost $35.00 CAD for 4-5 business day delivery.

Tracked Packet to the USA (Including a Tracking Number) will cost $22.00 CAD for 7 business day delivery.

If you have ordered more than 4 Items (Caps or Pillow Cases) and you live in the USA, I recommend our new "4 items or More" Option for $25.00 CAD which includes a tracking number and 7 business day delivery. This is the safest, most cost effective way to ensure that big orders will arrive.
Additional policies and FAQs
I am open to customizing my caps and pillows, if you would prefer a different coloured fabric for the base of a cap, back of a pillow or cap ties. Please message the seller your requests before purchase to see if they can be accommodated.

I have never had an order become lost by the post office yet. However, in the case this has happened, please message me regarding options. If it is entirely a post office error, like the package being lost in transition, then a full refund may be possible. If the error is that the buyer has incorrectly entered their address, then a refund up to 50% of the cost can be offered; full refunds WILL NOT be offered in this case.

Frequently asked questions

Gift wrapping and packaging

All items come wrapped in tissue paper free of charge. Because of a customs requirement, all orders to countries other than Canada must have on the label the contents and monetary value. Thus, I am unable to leave these off if the item is an intended gift shipped directly to the resident.

Holiday Shipping

During the months of late November and early December, shipping may be longer than the quoted times due to the holiday season. I cannot guarantee that orders will arrive before Christmas during this time, but will do my absolute best to get them out in a timely manner.

If You Want a Tracking Number

Orders are shipped with Canada Post and the standard shipping cost listed does not come with a tracking number. If you require a tracking number, and you live in Canada or the USA, then you can select this from the "Shipping Upgrades" drop down menu. Options include Expedited Shipping or Tracked Packet (Regular Shipping times with a tracking number).

Worry my item hasn't arrived yet.

I have never had an order become lost by the post office yet (knock on wood!). Shipping times are quoted in the shipping policies, and weather delays are not uncommon in Canada, especially seasonally.

However, in your case an item has not arrived and you are worried it has become lost, please feel free to message me regarding options.
