Spirit Nectar

My little shop started back in 2014 when I was making crystal jewelry and creating whimsical oil paintings of strange creatures in magical landscapes. I was selling a little bit on Etsy, but my main stomping ground was at local markets and music festivals. Three years later my brother travelled to Madagascar and made a friend in Antananarivo where he was staying. Fita, who had just finished school, said he was interested in selling stones because Madagascar has such an abundant supply. Fita wasn’t sure where to begin, so my brother said that I might be interested in buying some stones since I make jewelry. Our first few shipments were a bit messy, because neither Fita nor I had any idea what we were doing when it came to sourcing crystals! Our first few boxes had fallen apart by the time they got to Canada, many crystals were broken, and there were plenty of misidentified stones. Slowly but surely the two of us started to get the hang of things, and Spirit Nectar began to transform into something much bigger than the little jewelry shop it once was. Fita is still my main supplier to this day, and he is a huge advocate for supporting the Malagasy people along every step of the way. From charity work, to ensuring fair pay to workers, we are both trying our best to bring a sustainable approach to the crystal industry.

Spirit Nectar crystals are sourced from various places across the world, with my main suppliers being in Madagascar, Indonesia, Namibia, and Brazil. Most Spirit Nectar crystals are traceable throughout the entire supply chain. The majority of my suppliers are locals from the regions of where the crystals are found, and they are the ones setting the prices. Many of these connections have been made through family, and my travels.
I put in the product requests, and they will collect raw materials from their villages, mines, or barter with nearby communities. Some stones are later shaped and polished by local artisans. The relationships I have built with my suppliers are on a very personal level, and I think that this connection is essential for running an honest business. Communication is not always easy since we often have language barriers, but everyone I work with across the world puts in a huge effort to find and create quality products.

I think it is important to note that around 80% of everything in my shop comes directly out of Madagascar. The geology there is incredibly unique and diverse, but it is also one of the poorest and most exploited nations... especially when it comes to crystals. There are a lot of financial government roadblocks that prevent locals from mining legally, and it causes a domino effect of problems. Child labour, environmental destruction, exploitation of miners, and loss of revenue that actually stays in Madagascar due to the direct export of raw materials. My supplier and I have invested a lot of time into finding ways to help, and we decided that education is an incredibly important aspect. Educating consumers about these issues is important, but educating young people in Madagascar will contribute to lasting long term changes. As of October 2019, I am donating $1 from every sale in my shop to two organizations that my supplier volunteers for. The money will be going to and Akany Avoko, both organizations focus on the care and education of Madagascar’s most vulnerable and underprivileged children. (Update: Over $35,000 donated as of November 2021!) Over the next few months, my supplier and I will be working together to create short video episodes that highlight how Spirit Nectar crystals are produced, and what life in Madagascar is like for the incredible people who process our stones. Outside of Madagascar I am constantly looking for new crystal sources during my travels, and am always excited when I find locals who have direct access to resources without going through corporate industrial scale operations.

I do not accept returns or exchanges after the item(s) have been packed. If you wish to cancel an order, please contact me immediately.

***In cases of severe damage during the shipping process – I will accept returns with an 100% refund to you on the item: you will be required to provide me with photos of damaged goods within a maximum of 3 days after tracking has confirmed delivery to your location. At this point I will provide you with my address to which you can send the damaged item, and I will give you the refund after receiving the item. Please note that damage claims after the 3 day maximum will not be accepted.
Spirit Nectar items are payable through Paypal and several payment methods through Etsy Checkout.
Items will be shipped only after confirmation of payment.

Only one coupon code may be used per order.
Any item purchased will be shipped within 1 week (5 business days) from confirmation of the payment. Please allow me time to process your order, as it is just my partner and I who are packing your crystals, and dealing with the many things that it takes to run a business! In some cases I may need additional information or corrections for your address, shipping may be delayed until communication with you has been completed.

I use Canada Post and USPS services for shipment to ANY country, so please do not worry if you are far away from Canada – I can ship to you! According to the postal service, US & Canadian parcels should arrive within 5 business days. International items usually arrive within 1-2 months after dispatch with regular shipping: Unfortunately, my personal experience is that this period is not completely accurate, as delays do occur depending on your local postal services, weather conditions, and other unforeseen circumstances. Orders to the U.K. and Australia frequently take longer to arrive, so please be patient if this is your location! I also offer a shipping upgrade that takes approximately 1-2 weeks. If you have time constraints please select this option at checkout instead of using regular shipping.

***I ship ALL orders with TRACKED services. You will receive an email with a shipping notification and tracking number so you can look at where your package is at all times.

If you have a suspicion that the package has been lost/ significantly delayed /misplaced during its travel - I suggest that you go to your local post office with your tracking number and ask them to find it for you. This is the fastest and easiest way for you to find more information on the location of your package. Once a package is marked as delivered it is no longer my responsibility to keep track of its whereabouts. I do not offer refunds for stolen mail.

It is the buyers responsibility to ensure that the importing and exporting requirements of your country have been met. You are responsible for any customs tax, fees, or charges that might occur, you can contact your country's customs department prior to ordering to find out what these fees will be.
Customs charges are essentially a tax imposed by each country's government for the import of goods. Since you are the one who has purchased/ brought in the goods, it is not my responsibility to pay the fee since I am not a resident of that country. Any claims to hold me accountable for customs fees will be denied immediately. If the buyer refuses the package for any reason, a refund will not be issued.

Purchasing from Spirit Nectar:
Looking at the photos is not an accurate way to understand size. It is important to always read listing descriptions, which will give you a more accurate idea of the measurements or weight of the item. The written sizes are very close approximations, and may vary slightly depending on which direction is being measured. Typically my measurements are based on the longest side.

When purchasing from a grouping, please read product descriptions and look through every single one of the photos to get a better idea of the variety available. Looking only at the first photo will NOT give you an accurate representation of all the varieties or sizes available. By purchasing from a grouped listing, you acknowledge that any of the colors, shapes, or patterns included in all the pictures could potentially be in your order. While I do not allow requests for choosing a specific piece in a grouping photo, I am more than happy to choose a piece with the characteristics that you prefer. In this case, you must include a "note to seller" at checkout with a short description of the color, pattern, or shape that you prefer. Please note that this does not guarantee an exact match for your preference, it is simply an option to provide you with a more accurate choice. If you do not include a "note to seller" at checkout, the item will be chosen completely at random.

Please note that crystals are a natural product, sometimes stones and crystals have small imperfections and blemishes. This may include marks from polishing for any item that is shaped, as these are all made by hand. Some stones have oddities that are difficult to see such as druzy caverns or hollow pockets. I try my best to include any blemishes in photos, but if this is a concern for you please contact me prior to purchasing.

All of my photos are taken with an iphone in a bright lightbox with a white background. I do not use any programs to alter the photos. Colors may appear slightly different on screen depending on the monitor settings your device has. If you feel that a color is significantly different, please place it in bright sunlight against a white background for comparison. I often receive customer photos taken in dark rooms with awful lighting- this is not an accurate way to compare colors. If you purchased an item that has flash such as labradorite or garnierite, the best way to find the flash is with a bright directional light such as a flashlight. Diffused lighting (ex: a cloudy day, a dim room, in the shade ) will make the flash extremely difficult to find, and I would recommend using the method mentioned above if you are unable to immediately see the flash.

Please take the time to research minerals that you are not familiar with prior to purchasing. Some minerals are fragile, water soluble, light sensitive, have sharp edges, or may contain toxic compounds. It is advised that all specimens are handled with care.

Please use caution and care when opening your order. Some items are small or fragile so I recommend unpacking on a flat, clean surface or somewhere where you do not need to worry about your new pieces being damaged or lost. We frequently receive messages about pets accidentally knocking crystals over, so try to keep pets away while unwrapping your new stones. **Please be sure you have checked all packing material before disposing of it!** I use recycled materials for all of my packaging so sometimes small pieces can be missed due to the miscellaneous materials. I double check orders carefully before sealing the package, so it is extremely unlikely that an item would be missing from your order. I reserve the right to reship or refund in the rare event of missing items.

Each package receives a small free gift, this is for you to enjoy and not a mistake in your order.

Where is the best place to contact Spirit Nectar?

The easiest way to get a hold of me is through Etsy messages. I am always happy to help with any questions you may have. Allow 1-2 business days for a response, please keep in mind that I do not check messages over the weekend. Please avoid using E-mail, Instagram, or Facebook to message me, as I do not use these platforms for customer service. It is against Etsy policies for a seller to use anything other than Etsy messages for communication.

Sizing details

If you are ever curious about the size of an item, please read the product descriptions carefully. I always write the exact sizes for single items, and always have an approximate size guide for grouped listings.

Gift wrapping and packaging

All Spirit Nectar packages over $15 of value already come gift wrapped. Packages include a hand drawn thank you note, with your stones wrapped neatly in recycled paper- you will also receive a bonus gift with every order!

How do I choose a specific stone from a grouped listing?

I do not allow specific stone choices on grouped listings. I am more than happy to choose a piece with the characteristics that you prefer. In this case, you must include a "note to seller" at checkout with a short description of your preferred stone characteristics.
Please note that this does not guarantee an exact match for your preference, it is simply an option to provide you with a more accurate choice. If you do not include a "note to seller" at checkout, the item will be chosen completely at random. Sometimes items may be low in stock and I will not be able to fulfil certain requests.

Why is my international tracking stuck on “pre-transit”?

Please note that international orders (any country outside of USA & Canada) take an average of 1 - 2 months to arrive. The tracking is extremely limited and only begins updating again once it has reached customs in the destination country. It is normal for orders to say “pre-transit” for a couple of weeks, but if you have concerns feel free to send me a message.

If you need an order sooner, please select the shipping upgrade “Faster international shipping (non USA/ Canada)” at checkout. This option only takes approximately 1-2 weeks to arrive and is much more reliable.

How long does shipping take?

It takes me an average of 3-5 business days to pack up your order and take it to the post office. Please be mindful that weekends do not count as business days.

USA & Canada:
Most orders arrive within 5 days after I have dropped it off at the post office. Sometimes there are delays during the holidays.

•Standard shipping takes an average of 1-2 months and has limited tracking.
•The faster shipping upgrade takes an average of 1-2 weeks and is more reliable. This option must be selected at checkout prior to finalizing your purchase.
