I have always had a passion for creating!

Thank you for your interest in my embroidery. Even though I began my designing endeavors in the fields of designing small woodworking projects and painting patterns, I have never lost my love of hand-embroidery and needlework. I remember when I was a small child growing up in the inner city of Chicago, I used to go to my neighbor’s house in the summer and on her cement steps she handed me tea towels and embroidery thread and showed me my basic stitches. It is funny how memories like that from so long ago stay with us. But it awakened a love inside me of creating with beautiful colors and textures of threads.

Now that we have the internet, the world is truly our oyster. Several years ago I stumbled upon Di vanNeikirk’s website and creations using silk ribbon, beads, and other beautiful fibers. It reawakened my love of needlework and after accomplishing her “A Perfect World” sampler, I knew I was hooked.

Being a professional artist and designer, it was only natural for me to want to create my own designs. One thing I noticed was that there were very few “complete” kits available. While many offered basic supplies, we were on our own to find beautiful beads, specialty threads, and embellishments. After creating a few of my own designs using some of the beautiful materials and supplies that I had found in my cyber-travels, I was asked over and over to provide kits so others could follow in my steps. The result of those requests is this new branch of my designing company - The Stitching Kitty.

My goal is to offer top quality supplies and patterns at a reasonable cost so you too can enjoy the art of ‘slow-stitching’. I find that these days, with everything in a hurry and automated, it is very relaxing for me to sit down and relax by pulling a needle and beautiful thread and beads through fabric to make wonderful designs. I hope you agree.

I have searched all over the world to find quality supplies at good prices to include in my kits. Besides a very few supplies that you will certainly use for every project, I like to feel that they are “all inclusive”. You shouldn’t have to chase around for the unique materials that I will be providing in my kits. I have already done the leg work for you. I like to think that no matter what level of skill you have, you will find joy and pleasure in recreating my designs.

I hope you enjoy your journey with me!
