Announcement    Hello! My name is Todd and I am a self-taught carver. Thank you for your interest in my work!
Please note that our world is still experiencing delivery delays. I can guarantee that I will ship your order quickly upon receiving it, but once it is in the care of the postal service, the rest is in their hands. Please order early to ensure the best chance of arrival before the holidays.

I have been fascinated by odd or beautiful objects my entire life. As a child, I did a lot of carving and also played around with modelling, clay, wire and paper maché. I took all of the shop classes that my school offered.

Most of my work is meant to be touched, picked up, rearranged and looked at on all sides. I like moving parts and seek to invite the viewer to be involved in the piece. Some of my pieces are functional and some are more sculptural. All of my designs are original, though the Japanese Netsuke Carvers and the Maori Carvers are two of my greatest influences.

Designs will come to me at unpredictable times and occasionally I will sketch them out. If it is complicated, I will sometimes mock it up in wax for reference. I also use photographs and a collection of odds and ends that I have found over the years such as small plastic animals, bones, seashells and numerous other things from the natural world.

I create my works out of many different materials including wood, bone, antler, horn, tagua nuts and a variety of fossils. I obtain these materials from different commercial sources as well as finding many of them myself.

I hand carve everything myself, from start to finish, in my home workshop. I have an entire shop of tools that range from large power tools to tiny files and sandpaper.

The finish of a piece may vary depending on the desired outcome. I may use some wax, polish or even paint if the piece calls for it.

Thank you for your interest in my work. Let me know if you have any questions at all.

Drawing a Tree of Life image on a piece of antler, prior to carving.
While on my hike today I took note of the power of a small stream that has cut through the granite over the centuries. This Shiva Lingam stone reminds us of the duality of creation and destruction.

Hello! My name is Todd and I am a self-taught carver.

After a 20 year career as a professional ballet dancer, my body started to wear out on me so I decided to use only my hands and my brain for my artistic endeavors. I hand carve everything myself, from start to finish, in my home workshop. I have a workshop in my basement full of tools that range from large power tools to tiny files and sandpaper.

I have been fascinated by odd or beautiful objects my entire life. As a child, I did a lot of carving with my pocket knife and also played around with modeling, clay, wire and paper maché. I took all of the shop classes that my school offered.

The finish of a piece may vary depending on the desired outcome. If it works with the piece, I'll occassionally add some gemstones or sterling silver. I may use some wax, polish or even paint if the piece calls for it.

Frequently asked questions
Custom and personalised orders

Yes, I do take custom orders, although I'm judicious about what custom orders I will accept. I want to be certain that the custom request is within my skill set and that the customer and I mutually agree on the design vision and price. Custom requests usually take one to two weeks to create, depending on the time of year.

Care instructions

All of my products are hand carved from natural materials that have, in their previous lifetime, been exposed to water. However, once you purchase your pendant, please know that the carving will stay nicer and more "like new" for longer if you don't wear it in water. You can occasionally rub a small amount of essential oil into your carving to keep the material from drying out and add a slightly glossy appearance. Please let me know if you have any other questions about product care.

Am I purchasing the exact item pictured in a listing?

Yes! Please be assured that you are purchasing the exact item pictured in a listing. While I do sometimes duplicate a popular design, each pendant will be different due to the varying nature of the materials I use and the fact that each is individually hand carved. I make new listings for each and every pendant or relist the item with photos of the newly carved pendant. This way, customers can be confident that they will receive the very same item pictured when they make a purchase.

Wholesale availability

Please contact me if you are interested in purchasing pendants wholesale and we can discuss the options of a mutually agreeable arrangement.

When will I receive my order?

I always ship next business day, often same day. However, especially with the delays with the postal service, both within Canada and Internationally, please order well in advance of any expected arrival dates. Apologies in advance for any delayed delivery times due to the postal service, which I'm sure you understand are out of my hands. Thank you!
