About

The Ark in the middle of the Ontario Winter
My wood supply at the back awaiting to be turned into some treasures
I like to have a lot of natural light in my shop, it has 3 windows, 2 skylights and a door with a window
At the back my two lathes, main tool used for my turning
Me in one of this year's shows it was a very rainy weekend, but it didn't stop the customers to visit and buy

An ark in the middle of the Ottawa Valley

The business was conceived after three years of turning as a hobby. During that time I was only giving my creations to friends and family, and after a lot of good feedback and encouragement, the business was legally created in December 2011. My specialty are Pens turned in exotic woods and resins, I do bowls, boxes and some other turned pieces as well.
For me, turning is a passion, just getting a perfect and smooth shape from an irregular piece of wood is like a treasure, that's why I named my business Treasures from the Ark, and why the Ark?, is how my family named my woodshed, but that's another story.
Originally, I started turning decorative bowls, platters, boxes, and some abstracts, which were inspired by John Springett, a well-known British mathematician and woodturner. It wasn’t until I discovered pen turning that I found a new world full of possibilities and techniques. Taking baby steps, I started to make wooden pens using exotic woods and gave them away to my family and friends. When I started to see the possibility of a small business from this hobby, I became familiar with alternative materials, like resin castings, deer antler or a combination of these and exotic woods. With more expensive pen kits I could obtain beautiful writing instruments worthy to be in any collector’s hands.

Treasures from the Ark, your place for obtaining wooden pieces of Art and fine Writing Instruments such us handmade Wooden Pens, Pencils, Fountain Pens, Wooden Bowls, Boxes, Women Accessories and Office Accessories. The products shown in this website are made from domestic and exotic hardwoods and acrylics. Each piece is hand turned and is unique, that's the reason why each one of them is a unique treasure produced with a lot of dedication and passion. Since each piece is unique, pictures may slightly differ from the real product, and if you want to order something that is not in stock or if the combination between style, material, plating and shape does not exist, you can send me your requirement and I will gladly make a custom piece just for you. In the case of slim designs writing instruments, they are delivered with a nice black suede, while thicker ones are delivered in a transparent plastic pouch, you always have the alternative to buy a beautiful wooden box as an accessory. All the handmade Writing Instruments have been created under an exaustive finishing process which involves about 20 steps between sanding, protective coating and polishing which ensure a long term and durable shine for a daily use.

Returns and exchanges
Returns:
These are handmade products which they have my own warranty, if you are not satisfied, you will have 30 days from delivery to return it, the only consideration will be that you will need to pay the cost to shipping the product back to me, everything has to be in the original packaging and all the accessories have to be returned like boxes, accessories, pouches etc. Anything that has sign of miss-used or non original scratches won't be accepted as valid returns.
Before you return something, please contact me first indicating what the reasons are.
You will need to ship back the products by using a service that provide tracking number and delivery confirmation, and you will need to send me the tracking number so I can follow up the return. Upon receiving the product and validating that everything is as it is supposed to I'll process with the refund.

Paypal and Credit Cards are the methods of payment available
Shipping
Shipping Cost is calculated based on the products weight and destination.
I use Canada Post Services for shipping.
- For destinations in Canada usually takes between 2-6 days except, for Nunavut and North West Territories may take a couple of days longer.
- For destinations in USA takes between 3-8 Business days for delivery.
- Any other destinations may take from 6-25 Business days for delivery depending on the country.
- Regular service does not include tracking for international delivery, if you need tracking please choose the upgrade service

**** Take in consideration that exceptions can occur with the postal service where delivery may take longer during Christmas time

Customers outside of Canada will be responsible to pay any customs fees or taxes required by your country.
