I was born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia into a household
filled with sewing machines, wedding gowns, and constant creation. My mum was a seamstress - a bridal one to be exact. Childhood memories were laced with full skirts and fleeting veils, and through that I developed my aesthetic both accidentally and unintentionally. I love design and construction because it comes from a place of instinct.

In 2010, I began designing and constructing dresses for a custom bridal boutique my mum opened, which I eventually came to co-own. My experience there was both busy and wonderful, but it was easy to see that my true passion lay in design. During my many hours and late nights in front of the sewing machine, my mind was left to wander.

In my 20+ years of having thousands of gowns pass before my eyes, I’ve developed a critical eye to what “the wedding dresses” is. It’s a crazy thought to me, just how static the industry is. How gowns I remember seeing when I was ten look strikingly similar to gowns I’m seeing in present day. Why is it that women are constantly changing, but a life event as prominent as a marriage can remain the same? Does marriage remains complacent because of its ties with tradition? With that notion & frustration, “Truvelle” was born.

Design is very personal to me, and my interests, obsessions, and loves seep into what I create. I’m a constantly evolving human being, and my gowns are a diary of my design aesthetic. I hope you enjoy what I create as much as I enjoy creating them.

Designed for real women.

We’re about giving modern ladies alternative options to the traditional wedding gown. We create made-to-order dresses with a heavy emphasis on design, fit, and quality. With unconventional elements and a whole lot of effortlessness, our gowns are designed for the confident, easy-going bride. Because above all, a bride should feel as good as she looks.

A childhood spent in her mum’s custom dress shop, our founder, Gaby, started Truvelle after noticing brides were looking for something a little less expected. From a girl and a sewing machine, Truvelle now employs 25+ and operates in a 9000 sq ft studio space in the heart of Mount Pleasant. With all departments operating under the same roof, we maintain a small company vibe while proudly remaining Vancouver-based.

Planning your wedding is hard — we get it. We’ve got the #truvellebride covered, from on-brand inspo to that little something special. Offering more than just fuss-free wedding dresses, Truvelle is about that fresh, minimal aesthetic for the new, modern bride.
