About

Little Witch in the Big City

I live and work in downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada but am originally from a small town just north of here. My ancestry is both Dutch and Metis and I find my culture speaks through my way of making art. I find myself attracted to imagery that is both stark and luscious, an attempt to balance such disparate parts of myself and my history.

My drawing practice holds a place in my life as a form of meditation. I see the image within the page and allow the drawings to come to me. As I focus on the meticulous details, I am transported into another world and as an image emerges, I see in it a reflection of myself and my life.

My art has always been a refuge for me. It allows me to create a world that encapsulates my dreams and speaks of my visions of what could be. I am a healer as much as I am an artist and my visions are an attempt to address some of the hurt of my ancestors, the strong and empathic women in my family.

I live with my partner and a small dog named Hecate. When you purchase my art, you help to support my little home here and my work to heal myself, my family and to spread my vision of peace to the world in my own small way.

Thanks so much for your interest in my shop and my story.
