Aussie Kid Meets the Wild Prairies.

Hi, my name is Deanne Watson and I'm a wirewrapaholic.

A mom to 2 girls, Rose who is 17 and Lily, a precocious 13 year old. I'm also mom to 5 dogs including 2 Great Pyrenees - Douglas and Aurora (be sure to follow on their instagram page @douglasandaurora) who are currently three years old but only weigh 100 pounds so far (gulp). Olive is our 11 year old "Momma" Cockapoo, the smallest of the gang but the most mature. Then there's Oreo, our Cocker-Papillon - can you guess her colors? ha ha. We recently added Red, a mini retriever/corgi mix and David, terrier/dachshund who were both "foster fails" on my part.

We have 9 cats, and it seems a revolving door or coming and going and lots of asking "are you in or out?". That number includes a couple of strays. I'll save you the agony of naming them off. Let's just say it's a cute and furry mad house.

Over the last few years we've added six alpacas to the zoo, much to all the dogs' delight, well except Olive who is too "mature" to react to this invasion.

So obviously, with so many animals, we have acreage - 4.5 beautiful acres in Beausejour, Manitoba - smack bang in the center of Canada.

Now many years ago, when my girls were still toddlers I found myself feeling a little housebound, isolated and in need of a creative outlet. Why you ask?

Well, If you've ever experienced a winter here, you know they're long - and when I say long - boy, do I mean long!! 6 months of minus 30-40 degrees celcius cold and snow compared with very mild, warm and sunny winters where I grew up in Brisbane, Australia. Never having seen snow until coming to Canada was to say the least, a challenge.

When a friend took me to my first wire wrapping class, I was hooked and never looked back. What started out as a hobby, quickly became an obsession and I soon realized that if I wanted to continue, I'd better come up with a way to pay for all these supplies I was continually buying or my poor husband would have a heart attack!

I started selling at markets and hosting jewelry parties and by the time I opened up my Etsy shop I had somewhat figured out my niche style. It has changed a little over the years, but it's always centered around wire wrapping.

When I get a little free time (I know, what's that right? especially when you're a mom), I like to play around with some new ideas. Usually it's something simple - an everyday piece that I would enjoy wearing or I could picture my customers wearing.

I'm very grateful for this life, one where I'm working from my home in the country - being creative - present for my kids and tribe of 16 animals, and just generally feeling excited to wake everyday and make beautiful, meaningful items for my customers.

HOW DO I LET YOU KNOW THE NAME I WANT?

Simply leave the name request in the personalization box before adding the item to your shopping cart.

HOW SOON WILL I GET MY ORDER?

PROCESSING TIME IS CURRENTLY 1-3 BUSINESS DAYS BEFORE -SHIPMENT.

ORDERS GENERALLY ARRIVE WITHIN A FEW DAYS AFTER SHIPMENT WITHIN THE U.S. AND 3-4 DAYS WITHIN CANADA. INTERNATIONAL SHIPMENTS TAKE 1-4 WEEKS TO ARRIVE. DURING THE CHRISTMAS SEASON, ORDERS WILL TAKE A LITTLE LONGER TO ARRIVE - PLEASE TAKE THIS INTO ACCOUNT WHEN ORDERING.

NECKLACE SIZING CHART FOR CHILDREN & ADULTS

I recommend the following chain lengths for these ages:

3-7 years = 12 inches
8-9 years = 13 inches
10-12 years = 14 to 15 inches
13-15 years 15 to 16 inches
16+ years 17 to 18 inches

It's always best to measure first. These measurements do not include the name pendant which will increase the overall necklace length by 1-2 inches.

WHAT DOES SILVER PLATED MEAN?

I use top quality pure silver plated wire which has a copper core. The chain is silver plated over an iron or copper base.

Because it's silver plated, the coating will eventually wear off (depending on how often it's worn) exposing the copper underneath.

For this reason I highly recommend the sterling filled option as it has a much longer life (comparable to sterling silver) and so is well worth the additional cost.

I recommend avoiding lotions and perfumes, chlorine pools and hot tubs and sweaty sports while wearing the jewelry to extend the life of the item.

WHAT DOES "STERLING FILLED SILVER" MEAN?

Sterling filled silver looks like sterling silver.

With a 10x thicker coating than regular silver plated wire, (925 sterling coating over a white brass core) it has a very long wear life.

As with sterling silver, it will tarnish (takes a while) but can be very easily cleaned with a regular silver jewelry cleaner such as Connoisseur liquid jewelry dip.

I recommend keeping sterling filled silver items in a sealed Ziploc bag when not being worn.

I always recommend avoiding lotions and perfumes, chlorine pools and hot tubs and sweaty sports while wearing to extend the life of the item.

WHAT DOES "14K GOLD FILLED" MEAN?

14k gold filled wire has a 14 karat plating of gold applied to a yellow brass base/core, 50 times thicker than gold plating, with a gold content of at least 1/20th the total weight of the item.

The tone is more subdued than 24k yellow gold.

Looks like regular solid 14k gold and will wear extremely well if treated with care.

Will not tarnish and can be worn in water (although not recommended).

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND POLICY?

I accept returns for exchange on a very limited number of items that have the potential to be re-sold. It is at my discretion, which items I'll exchange. Please contact me first for approval. Custom name jewelry cannot be returned or exchanged.

MY ITEM HASN'T ARRIVED - WHAT DO I DO?

1. Click on your order to see the current scheduled "scheduled to ship by" date (This is a general guide)
2. If it's shipped, click on the tracking number for information on your parcel's whereabouts. If it has yet to ship, you can contact me for a more exact shipping date or to upgrade the shipping or processing (for a fee).
3. If you see that tracking has not updated in the last few days, please call your local post office with the tracking number. I have no further information than what is provided through the tracking link.
4. If you think your parcel is lost, please wait 21 days (3 weeks) to make sure and at that time, I will send a replacement.
5. The only guaranteed delivery method through USPS is Priority Mail Express.

I PLACED AN ORDER FOR CHRISTMAS AND IT DIDN'T ARRIVE ON TIME

1. The only orders guaranteed for Christmas delivery placed after December 14th must have Priority Mail Express shipping.
2. If you placed your order after December 18th, it will not be delivered by Christmas.
3. If you placed your order on or before December 14th with regular or even Priority 2-3 day shipping, this still does not guarantee Christmas delivery as the USPS delivery times are not guaranteed and will increase during the rush holiday season.
2. Our processing time (Currently 1-3 business days) is a general guide and increases closer to Christmas as orders get heavier. Every effort is made to ship as quickly as possible but because of the handmade and custom nature of our products, we can't guarantee it.
