Knit with Bliss...

I started Folklore Yarns after teaching myself how to dye fibres. It was the perfect marriage between my background in painting and my passion for knitting and fibre art. The shop name came about from my other major interest- mythology and folklore.

I create out of my home on evenings and weekends- during the week I can be found at the reference desk of our local library, or singing songs and reading picture books in the storytime room. Full time Library Assistant and part time Dyer, for now at least.

My inspiration comes from many places- the books I read, the places I visit, the vibrant colours of my pet parrots' plumage (we live with five of them. Life is noisy). I'm so happy to share my yarns with you, and hope you enjoy the colours and textures while you knit, just as much as I enjoyed creating them. Wishing you Blissful Knitting!

I graduated with a degree in visual arts but realized that painting yarn suited me better than painting canvasses. I can often be found with my sidekick Phoenix the Sun Conure perched shoulder-top when the dye pots are put away.

Returns and exchanges
If you need to return an item, please contact me within 2 days of receiving it; I will refund you the cost of the order, minus shipping fees. You are responsible for return shipping fees. If you are returning yarn, the skein must arrive in its original condition (ie not in a ball, with the label still intact, no perfume, cigarette smoke odour, etc). There are no returns on custom orders.
Payments accepted through PayPal. Sorry, no personal cheques. I will ship your order once payment is received.
Items in stock will ship within 2-5 days of receiving payment. If you have requested a custom item or additional skeins in a particular colourway, shipping may take a few days longer. I use Canada Post and will always select the fastest way to ship your order (ie., for international shipping, I choose air mail). All orders will be securely packaged in a cushioned envelope. If you would prefer to have a different shipping method, I will try to accommodate it, with the customer covering the additional cost.

*A note on Everywhere Else shipping costs. This is approximate- I will refund you any difference if the shipping is less than $20.00
