After watching a beautiful review on you tube, I decided I would like to begin my own adventure using these lovely journey oracle cards. Kristen responded to all my emails and sent me a tracking number. The cards arrived promptly and nicely packaged. Thank you Kristen for all the research and wisdom you put into these cards. I am excited to begin my journey!

About

My art takes you on a shamanic journey into your unconscious wisdom.

I am a drum maker, visual artist and creator the Journey Oracle cards. In 1992 I had a dream in which I created a deck of cards with different information on each side. The dream stayed around me for more than a year, until I decided to make the deck.

The process of creating the Journey Oracle cards took five years for the painting, and 21 years to understand how to use them based on the dream analysis of C.G. Jung and the aspects of a shamanic journey to the Spirit world. Along the way I experienced loss of comfort, heightened awareness, unexpected discoveries and deepened self-knowledge. I was shown that the realm of the unconscious is the true origin of all personal growth. Although I began with the intention to create an oracle deck for the experienced practitioner, at journey's end I found not an ordinary deck of divination cards, but a living entity, and energetic that could communicate with the user, regardless of his or her prior experience.

I have drawn from many sacred stories when learning to be a frame drum maker, especially those telling of the women's drumming traditions in old European Goddess cultures. My teachers have been First Nations drummers assembling pow wow drums, my listening to frame drums being played, and especially my being taught by the drums themselves. My drums return the gift of voice to the spirit of deer and wood.

I have neither employees nor helpers in the month long process of preparing the raw deer skin, building the spruce wood hoop, constructing the drum, felting and wrapping the drum stick, and painting the finished drumhead with raw earth pigments. Every step is an intimate encounter with the practical nature of ordinary things, and also with the nature of spirit-filled mystery.
