Owlet Boutique: Turning sadness into hope

Hello! My name is Shana, and I am the sole creator of Owlet Boutique. This summer I will be marrying the love of my life after over ten years together! During the week, I am a teacher, and in my spare time I enjoy spending time with family and friends, caring for my home, and crafting.

I decided to open up my shop after a sad personal event in 2013. My then boyfriend bought me a pink owl accessory to cheer me up, and it inspired me to channel my sadness and passion for creativity into something special. In December 2013, Owlet Boutique was launched. I began selling tutu dresses after the release of Frozen, but have since begun selling boot cuffs, tutus, fabric skirts, headbands, hair bows, bow ties, and jewelry in addition to tutu dresses. I hope to one day be able to leave my day job to run Owlet Boutique so that I can pursue my true dream of raising a family.

Welcome to Owlet Boutique!

My Story:
I have always had a passion for crafting and all things girly. In the fall of 2013, while sitting on my parents' couch over Thanksgiving weekend, I was trying to think of other creative ways to supplement my income as a substitute teacher. Having no children yet of my own, I was browsing Facebook looking at all the adorable pictures friends were posting of their little ones all dolled up, then it hit me: I could create all sorts of girly things that I would've loved as a child, for parents to buy for their little girls! A few weeks later, I crafted some hair bows and opened up OwletBoutique. After Christmas, I wanted to do something more than just hair bows, and I tried my hand at tutus. Then, I went a bit further and tried tutu dresses. I couldn't believe how fun they were to make and how rewarding the final product was! I felt like my 5 year old self again, in awe of all the fluffy, pretty, princess-ness! :) Nothing brightens my day more than receiving notes and pictures from customers saying how much they and their little princess my creations.

I strive to create products that customers are 100% satisfied with. I believe that customer satisfaction begins with customers knowing exactly what they are purchasing. Returns and exchanges
I will only grant refunds if the item is not as it is represented in the listing. You must contact me within 48 hours of receiving the item if there is a problem. Possible resolutions may include: Fully refunding the item (less shipping), Allowing you to exchange the item for a new one (you pay shipping to return the item to me ), or Partially refunding the item. The resolution used will depend on the exact situation.

I try my best to use pictures and descriptions that explain and show what you are purchasing. Please read item descriptions fully before purchasing. If you have any questions about the items, please contact me as I am happy to answer.

I spend a fair amount of time checking items for and listing measurements. I recommend measuring your child first so that I can customize it to their exact size, but if you choose not to measure, I cannot guarantee how or if it will fit your child.

Direct checkout allows you to purchase with a debit or credit card. Please note that this option protects your privacy, and I do not receive your card information.

I happily accept PayPal, but please note that if you pay with an eCheck, it can take up to 5 business days for the payment to clear. This may result in additional processing time. f
Although we are used to many online orders shipping within a few days, please be aware that all items purchased are custom made for you after your order is placed. Unless noted, I do not usually have items ready to ship. Typically, it takes 2-5 days for hair bows/headbands and 1-2 weeks for dresses and tutus. There may be times when the processing time is longer, which may be due to a high amount of orders, or personal time restraints (It is only me making items, and I also work outside the home teaching reading 4 days per week).

Once shipped, most items take 1-5 business days to be delivered within the US. If the item is needed by a specific date, please contact me in advance. I will do everything that I can to be sure that you get your item in time, however I am not responsible for items lost or damaged once they leave my hands are in the hands of the postal service. I include tracking with all US orders, which will include an estimated arrival date. Please be mindful that sometimes the postal service will not leave a package if no one is home, and they do not feel there is a safe place to leave it unattended.

I welcome international orders and have shipped to several different countries. So far, no items have been lost, and all have been received in a timely manner. Some countries may charge additional customs fees that you will be responsible for. I recommend checking your local postal information to see if you will be subject to fees on items coming in from the USA.
Unfortunately, international tracking is usually only available to Canada. When your order is shipped, I will provide your customs number as the tracking number. If you are outside of Canada, it may or may not work. Once items leave the US, the US Postal Service is not responsible for them anymore. You may be able to contact your local postal service and receive information with your customs number.
- To Canada: 8 - 14 business days
- To Europe (England, France, Germany): 8 - 21 business days
- To Australia: 3 - 4 weeks

Q: How do I contact you?
A: If you need to contact me, please use Etsy Convos. I do have an email address, but I do not check it often and I may not see your email for several weeks. I will see your Etsy Convo within 24 hours.

Q: Can I call you?/Can you call me?
A: No. I do not have a business phone number, and am not comfortable using my personal cell phone number for business.

Q: My child wears size 5T. Will your 5T fit my child?
A: I list chest/waist sizes and dress lengths within each item's description. I came to these numbers through research of various size charts from sewing and retail sites. While my sizes should fit most children of the same size, I recommend measuring your child first to be sure.

Q: Do you offer discounts if I purchase multiple items?
A: In most cases, yes! Please contact me for more information.

Q: Why does processing take so long? 1-2 weeks seems ridiculous!
A: Each item is custom made after your order it. Once your purchase, I put your order on my calendar, which lists all of my current open orders. I always fill orders in the order that they are received. If you order a tutu or dress, please know that it takes several hours for me to create it. Since I also teach outside of the home and typically have several open orders at any given time, it may take several days or even a week until I begin your order.

Q: I love an item that you have listed, but wish it were just a little bit different. Can I have it changed?
A: Yes, I am happy to do custom orders! Most often, custom requests are for dresses shorter or longer than listed, or in different colors. The price may vary for shorter/longer styles, but not for colors (the only exception is if the request includes printed or glitter tulle, which may cost extra). If I don't currently have the supplies in stock to do your custom item, I will be happy to order them at no extra charge.
