Coming in August - New crochet stitch marker charm sets...

If you are like me you knit and crochet because you love making things by hand. You love creating. And not just creating for creation’s sake. But creating something that you can actually use.

Seeing work you completed by hand gives you a sense of pride. Knowing that you have brought something beautiful into the world makes it worth all the effort.

Those of us who knit or crochet, or quilt or weave, we know the painstaking attention to detail it takes to complete a project. The time you have to take to have it come out perfectly. And when it does? Nothing beats that feeling. The hours, the effort, holding it completed in your hands, made it all worth it.

I know the joys and the pains that go with knitting and crocheting. Whether you have been knitting and crocheting for one week or 35 years like I have, there will come a time when you realize that quality tools make your life easier and your work more enjoyable. And I have those tools here to help you.

We offer a variety of colourful beaded knitting and crochet stitch markers, and hand sewn or woven fabric project bags.

Enjoy quilting?

Choose from a variety of original quilt and bag patterns in convenient downloadable PDF forms.

Enjoy sewing?

I also offer unusual or difficult-to-source sewing supplies, like lace zippers and bag hardware.

If you have any questions or special requests, please send me a message. I typically respond within 24 hours.

Happy Creating!

Summertime is shawl knitting time! My current fave summer project is the Sarsons Shawl by Ravelry designers Knox Mountain Knit Co. I use my small ring stitch markers to separate lace sections and count 20 stitches at a time to keep track of my increases.
Yikes, I dropped a stitch! In fact I do that a lot ;) Stitch marker to the rescue!!! Working away on a sweater at the moment. What are you working on? Search for my Facebook Group called Janet Rice-Bredin and join us to show off your creative projects.

About

A Decades Long Love Affair

I’m Janet Rice Bredin, a Fibre Art lover and creator of beautiful snag free stitch markers.

What first got me hooked on crafting was in the 1970’s, when I worked as a Timber Technician for the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources in Northern Ontario, Canada.

We were flown into the woods for 10 day periods, camping in tents or old Junior Ranger cabins. In the evenings we had a lot of spare time. So we would fire up the Coleman lanterns and work on our crafts. I brought a latch hook rug to work on, and my colleague brought a quilt that she was piecing together. That first summer she completed her quilt and I the rug.

The following summer she began another quilt, and allowed me to work on it with her. I loved the slow contemplative nature of hand stitching different colours of cloth together to create new patterns, and that’s where my love of quilting began.

During my seasonal lay-off, I walked past a yarn shop one day and decided to check it out. I knew nothing about knitting or crocheting but the yarns were gorgeous and it was cold outside! So I asked the owner if I could take lessons and learn how to knit. She agreed, helped me choose some yarn, needles and a pattern.

I sat in her shop once a week that winter and she taught me how to knit my first 2 sweaters. I’ve been knitting ever since.

From my years of experience and seeing so many inferior products out there I decided I needed to provide something that I would use, that would get the job done and also look fantastic. I wanted something of real quality that was made with my own hands.

Stitch Markers Make Your Knitting and Crocheting Easy and More Enjoyable

Whether you are just starting out, or have been at this for a while, you can use stitch markers to save you hours of time and frustration.

Stitch markers are used by knitters and crocheters to act as pattern placeholders in the construction of garments and complicated patterns such as lace and cables.

They mark points of increase/decrease. They mark the beginning of rows when knitting in the round. They also mark the separation boundaries of complicated pattern groups within a garment, to make it easier for the maker to review the pattern to that point, and count stitches for accuracy.

My knitting stitch markers are made with quality materials, are lightweight, glide smoothly on knitting needles, and NEVER snag on the yarns.

Yarns tend to catch on anything pointy or sharp, so when stitch markers aren’t made snag free, they can break, fuzz, or loop. Mine are designed to be snag free.

These include ring markers, dangling beaded markers that hang out of the way of the stitches on the needles, and locking beaded markers that clip directly to the yarn instead of hanging off the needles.

The crochet stitch markers are made with quality silver-plated lobster clasp or French ear wire clasps to latch onto the yarns as progress keepers.

I create a variety of styles to suit any crafter.

Quality Materials Set My Stitch Markers Above the Rest

My quality materials include semi-precious stones, handmade lamp-worked glass, dichroic glass, millefiori cane glass, crystals, silver-plated beads, polymer clay beads, Aurora Borealis and iris-finished Czech glass beads, anodized aluminum rings and nylon-coated fine wire that glides smoothly on the needles.

I scour the market to find beautiful supplies that will only work perfectly for my product. I care what I use to create my stitch markers.

Free Bonus Gift

When you order a stitch marker set, not only do you get beautiful, snag-free markers but each set is shipped in a padded decorative tin so the glass and crystal beads are protected.

This handy little case also helps you not lose your stitch markers, and is very handy for tossing in your project bag.

Very few stitch marker sellers do this. Some include it as an optional purchase, but most only attach their markers to card stock.

Thank you for your interest in my shop and have fun poking around. You just may find the perfect item for yourself or a loved one.
Happy creating, and stay warm!
