Who am I?
I’m Darcey Lyn McCallum – owner of this shop and creator of some amazing Rockin’ Nose Art! I’ve had my own nose piercing for many years and exclusively wear my own work. Since I wear it myself, I pay attention to the little details. ♥ I take a lot of pride in what I do and devote myself full time to my craft.

I work in a variety of metals and stones; utilizing solid 14 karat gold, sterling silver, argentium silver, and a variety of stones. Each piece is handmade by me and individually customized for each person at the time of filling the order. My customers are some of the greatest people on this planet and I’m grateful to each and every one of you. I’ve been on Etsy since 2008, starting out at my Rock Your Wire shop, and this particular shop began in 2009 - coining the phrases "Rockin' Nose Art" and "Little Works of Nose Art" as a part of my personal brand since opening day.

I appreciate Etsy for the opportunity to do what I love to do, and you, my customers, for your support.

I appreciate you supporting handmade :)

About

About Rock Your Nose

About Rock Your Nose Jewelery
Each piece of jewelry is handmade by the owner, Darcey Lyn McCallum.
Rock Your Nose Jewelry was born in 2009 to a woman with a nose piercing she was totally bored with. They say most great businesses begin as a result of trying to solve a problem. Well, I had a problem, and it was called “the tiny crystal”. My disillusion with my piercing was so great I was considering letting it grow over.

I was working from home as a business coach, after more than six years working for the Provincial Government in BC, Canada, where I live and operate my business. I quite suddenly had a creative impulse and began dabbling in jewelry making. I knew about the Etsy marketplace because of my coaching job, and after making quite a few things, I set up a shop kind of ‘just for the heck of it’ with some earrings. I called the shop “Rock Your Wire”. I sold a few things and it was a total thrill each time an order would come in. There would be many, many days in a row without orders too.

One evening, I learned to make a little coil out of wire. A friend taught me. I was on my way home from her house with this little coil with a long-ish tail of wire on it that could be cut into a post earring, or really anything…and I was at a light about to make a left turn when a thought struck me. What if I could put it in my nose?!! I couldn’t wait to get home.

Well, as they say, the rest is history. I made my first nose stud and it fit perfectly. I listed that tiny sterling silver spiral for sale in my Etsy shop and they sold, and sold, and sold. So I challenged myself with more shapes, and with better photographs and the sales continued to come in. So I kept going. In 2009 I realized that it needed its own dedicated shop and the name “Rock Your Nose” was the perfect choice. I opened a second store on Etsy and kept the first one going (it still is).

I expanded the selection, introducing larger spirals, infinity shapes, triangle shapes and more. I realized that I needed to also expand my skill set and I taught myself how to solder and set stones. (Truthfully, YouTube videos taught me how to solder and set stones. I just practiced until I got it right).

Now, in 2018 – ten years after opening my first Etsy shop, I have a wonderful business doing something I couldn’t ever imagine not doing. I am exceedingly grateful to every one of my customers for continuing to buy my pieces; many of you have been with me since the beginning. I am also grateful to Etsy for providing the platform for the expression of my art, and ultimately my business. And mostly I’m grateful to the Universe for putting all the pieces in place for me. My only job was to pay attention.

Thank you for supporting handmade :)

Frequently asked questions

Sizing details

HOW DO I KNOW WHAT SIZE OR GAUGE TO ORDER?

For nose rings, download my printable chart here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwPilwuFYv5vOUhLbzV6cXNLRVE/view?usp=sharing

Gauge:
Gauge is the thickness of the wire portion that goes through your nose. I use 20 gauge as a standard "fits most" sizing but many people like a thicker or thinner gauge.
20 gauge wire is about the thickness of a regular earring post.
18 gauge is one thicker than 20 gauge.
22 gauge is one thinner than 20 gauge.
Gauge thickness gets thinner for the higher the number, so 22 gauge is thinner than 20, and 24 gauge is thinner than 22, etc.

Sizing details

SCREW END, BONE END, OR FISHTAIL - WHICH ONE TO CHOOSE?
I design left and right nostril screws based on a comfort fit. My photos all show what I design as a nostril screw for the left. If yours is different, and you prefer it, simply order the opposite.

Bone end has a small ball on the end of a straight shaft to hold it in place.

Fishtail is a straight shaft that you can bend yourself or get a piercer to bend. I do them in 17mm length but if you need another length, just ask.

Shaft Length:
I make my shafts about 6.5mm long
The small "L" part of my L ends are 5mm long
The screw portion of my screw studs is about 4.5mm wide
However, I can adjust to any size you require if you just let me know.

Care instructions

All sterling silver tarnishes – it is called oxidization. It can be cleaned with a silver cleaner. I buy mine from the jewelry counter and simply dip the silver in there for a second and give it a rinse. It shines it right up.

What about gold? Simply clean in warm soapy water and rinse well.

I just got my nose pierced! When can I wear my new piece I bought from you?
When you are FULLY healed. You need to keep the piece in that your piercer picked out for you until the healing process is complete. If you aren't sure whether you are healed, please consult a professional.

Policy for Items Lost in the Mail

Occasionally the post office misplaces or loses a package. I do not offer refunds in this situation. I do, however, work with you to ensure you receive your jewelry. Please contact me in case of a loss.
