Yellow Bear Cares!

I'm Claire Griffiths of Yellow Bear UK, welcome to my Etsy shop! I hope you enjoy what you see- I'd like to tell you a little bit about what I do and how my business has evolved:

We are a sustainable, eco-friendly small business based in Brighton. Our aim is to create and sell reusable items which help you to cut out the plastic in your lives. We have always had a passion to reduce, re-use and recycle. This is at the core of Yellow Bear’s ethos. All of our products and packaging are made from natural, compostable and/or recycled materials.

Growing up the slogan: ‘reduce, re-use, recycle’ was followed with much enthusiasm, in fact I remember always having random things used for different purposes once reaching their 'end-life'. For instance when my shoes no longer fit they became plant pots in the garden, my mums laddered tights became supports for plants to grow up, any copper pipes my dad came across became frames for his beloved tomatoes to climb up, complete with unusable taps attached! This ethos of re-using and upcycling inspired me from a young age, whilst at school my design projects included: a sofa-bed frame made of discarded wooden pallets, a clock made from old CD's and a candle holder made of bent forks!

So My first small business involved me making jewellery with vintage knitting needles and other craft based tools- creating jewellery with them, I had fun coming up with new and different designs but I’ve had to move on from those products because of issues with the process now I am a mother.
I have decided to return even deeper to my roots of reduce, re-use and recycle, I’m starting afresh and creating a sustainable small business making and selling reusables to help and cut out the plastic from our lives.

Beeswax wraps:
Our reusable beeswax wraps are handmade with love in Brighton, UK using beeswax from
UK bees, pure organic jojoba oil and natural pine resin. All of the fabrics we use for our wraps are 100% cotton and sourced from fabric cut-offs or vintage supplies. Rather than buying new, we chose the more sustainable option of using preloved fabrics. This means that each pack of wraps is unique to you! We also sell beeswax wrap kits that you can buy to make your own wraps at home.

I am an avid instagram user, follow me there as: 'YELLOWBEARUK' to see behind the scenes and follow my attempts to cut out plastic from my own life.
