Small in stature ... Big in personality!
Die Tatsache, dass ich mich entschieden habe, zu FIT zu gehen, um Mode zu studieren, überrascht mich bis heute. Die Wahrheit ist, es war irgendwie außerhalb des linken Feldes. Und ich habe mich wirklich dazu gedrängt, mich zu bewerben, da ich überhaupt nicht qualifiziert war (tatsächlich wurde ich beim ersten Mal, als ich mich bewarb, nicht akzeptiert). Die Tatsache, dass ich immer wieder gedrängt und gelernt und mich mehr angestrengt habe, ist ein wahrer Beweis für meine tiefe Liebe zur Herstellung von Kleidung. Der Grund, warum es mich überrascht, ist, dass ich diese Liebe ein wenig spät im Leben entdeckt habe. Aber ehrlich gesagt, war ich schon immer ein Spätzünder.
Eine Sache, die ich in der Modeschule schnell gelernt habe, ist, dass ich viel mehr daran interessiert war, Kleidung zu kreieren, als sie zu entwerfen. Zu dieser Zeit entdeckte ich die wachsende Indie-Näh-Community und wusste, dass ich meine Nische gefunden hatte. Irgendwann um 2011 herum beschloss ich, dass ich eines Tages Nähmuster entwerfen und verkaufen würde, obwohl ich keine Ahnung hatte, wie ich es verwirklichen würde.
Schneller Vorlauf bis 2017 und ich bin so aufgeregt, mein erstes Muster zu debütieren. Das Wachstum mit der erstaunlichen Online-Näh-Community war ein Segen, und ich könnte nicht glücklicher sein, diese Community mit hochwertigen, einzigartigen Mustern versorgen zu können, die mit einem zierlichen Rahmen im Hinterkopf entworfen wurden. Das handgefertigte Uhrwerk ist eines, das mir am Herzen liegt, und ich freue mich darauf, meinen einzigartigen Design- und Konstruktionsstil einzubringen.
Ich unterrichte auf die gleiche Weise, wie ich nähe, eine Methode, die ich das "Fließband" nenne. Diese Technik wird Ihnen helfen, weniger Fahrten hin und her von Ihrer Maschine zu Ihrem Eisen zu machen, und hoffentlich helfen Sie Ihnen, eine schnellere, effizientere Näherin zu sein.
Ich kann es kaum erwarten, dass Sie mit mir nähen, während ich meine Musterlinie ausbaue, um eine ganze Garderobe voller lustiger und dennoch bequemer Kleidung anzubieten.
The fact that I decided to go to FIT to study fashion still surprises me to this day. The truth is, it was sort of out of left field. And I was really pushing myself to apply as I was not at all qualified (in fact, the first time I applied, I wasn’t accepted). The fact that I kept pushing and learning and trying harder is a true testament of my deep love for creating clothing. The reason it surprises me is because I discovered this love a little late in life. But honestly, I’ve always been a late bloomer.
One thing I quickly learned in fashion school is that I was far more interested in creating clothing than I was designing it. It was around this time I discovered the growing indie sewing community and knew I had found my niche. Somewhere around 2011 I decided that one day I would be designing and selling sewing patterns, even though I had no idea how I would make it happen.
Fast forward to 2017 and I am so excited to debut my first pattern. Growing with the amazing online sewing community has been such a blessing, and I couldn’t be happier to be able to provide that community with quality, unique patterns drafted with a petite frame in mind. The handmade movement is one that I hold dear to my heart, and I look forward to contributing my unique design and construction style.
I teach in the same way I sew, a method I call the “assembly line”. This technique will help you make less trips back and forth to from your machine to your iron, and hopefully help you to be come a faster, more efficient sewist.
