The classic and lighthearted sculptures of George Carruth and his team of artisans are treasured by collectors around the world.
Founder, George Carruth, created stone carvings in his spare time while he was employed as a sculptor for American Greetings. His wife, Deb, enter a few stones in a local art show. After winning several awards, George's career as a sculptor took off! In 1983 George left his full-time position to exhibit and sell his one-of-a-kind garden stones at art shows across the country.
In 1985 David Kays Garden & Gift Catalog buyer encouraged George to cast his original designs thereby making Carruth’s art available to many more people at a modest price. Their catalog cover featured Carruth Studio’s first casting, the Cat
Birdbath (still available today).
The growing media attention Carruth Studio received brought many high profile
commissions such as the White House Christmas tree ornament, several pieces
for the National Cathedral in Washington D.C. and an original design for HGTV.
PBS produced a documentary of George Carruth’s career in 2001 titled: George Carruth - An American Sculptor. Along with his talented daughter, Libby, George
publishes their third children's book, If I were a Dinosaur (2008).
In 2020, The Society of the Honor Guard, Tomb of The Unknown Soldier commissioned Carruth Studio to create the marker for the Never Forget Garden initiative in conjunction with the 100th anniversary of the Tomb of The Unknown Soldier. It has been a tremendous honor for Carruth Studio to help advance the Society's mission to Never Forget those who have sacrificed so much for our country.
George and our studio of artisans continue to create unique sculptures designed to provide years of enjoyment. We are sometimes asked "What's your favorite design?" Our favorite piece is the one that brings a smile to whomever is enjoying it at the moment.
Thank you for your interest in Carruth Studio!
