The Creation of a Sticker
I love to draw and create Digital Paintings. My Workflow is something that works well for me and I enjoy!
1. Inspiration and Sketch.
I keep plenty of sketchbooks around at all times! I start my stickers typically with a specific pet or theme in mind. Many of my stickers are based off my friend's and family's pets!
I will sketch out some ideas in my sketch book until I have something I am happy with. The sketch at this phase is pretty messy.
2. Reference and Line Art
I will upload the sketch into procreate and find some references to use as inspiration. I neatly go over all of the lines and clean them up as well as play with the line weight. This leaves me with a clean line art.
3. Coloring
This is my favorite step and is very relaxing and simple! I will color in the sketch like a coloring page on a layer underneath the line art. I experiment and change around colors until I am happy. On top of the base colors I will add shadows and highlights sometimes using a few different layers for each.
4. Textures and Refinement
At this point I will sometimes use the warp tool to play with proportions a bit. I add any final textures, I change some of the line colors, and I add the stripe texture onto the darkest shadows. I like to add the striped shadows as that is how I like to shade when I draw.
5. Rendering and Production
Finally I will do a few render processes such as adding the sticker back design and a few mockups for Instagram. I have the designs sent off for printing. My original goal was to print them myself but I just LOVE the high quality of the professional print shops! :)
