Frequently asked questions

Why are 3D visualisations useful before construction starts?

3D visualisations allow you to understand the garden before any building work begins. They help clarify scale, circulation, sightlines, material relationships, lighting impact, and how different zones connect together. They also reduce costly misunderstandings by allowing both client and contractor to see the intended outcome before construction starts.

Can you plan a garden specifically for dusk and evening use?

Yes. We design many gardens around what we call the second shift: the hours when the space is used after daylight begins to fade. This includes lighting temperature, focal points, reflected planting, privacy after dark, and the overall atmosphere of stillness. The goal is not brightness everywhere, but a controlled and immersive evening environment.

What should I ask before choosing a remote garden design service?

Ask what information they need from you, how accurate the drawings will be, whether the design is contractor-ready, how revisions are handled, and whether the process includes lighting, planting, and technical construction thinking. It is also worth checking whether they can show real examples of remote projects that have been successfully designed without a site visit.

Do you visit my garden in person?

No, we operate as a fully remote digital design studio. This allows us to serve clients across the entire UK without charging travel fees. We build a precise "Digital Twin" of your home and garden using the measurements, photos, and videos you provide in your "Data Dossier." For physical landscaping and construction within London and the M25, our sister company, Stuart Savage Landscaping, can be commissioned separately.

How accurate is a remote design?

Extremely accurate. We use professional architectural software to create scaled 2D plans and 3D models based on the dimensions you provide. We walk you through the process of measuring your space to ensure every wall, window, and boundary is mapped correctly. If you have a complex site (steep slopes, irregular shapes), we may recommend a professional land survey first.

What is a "Digital Twin"?

A Digital Twin is a virtual 3D replica of your home and garden. We model your exterior architecture, boundary walls, and existing features to test our designs. This allows you to see exactly how shadows fall at different times of day, how the view looks from your kitchen window, and how the new lighting scheme will transform the space at night—all before a single brick is laid.

Which Asset is right for me?

The Foundation Strategy Asset: Best if you are unsure where to start or want professional validation for your own ideas.

The Signature Layout Asset: Best if you need a clear, scaled plan to hand to a contractor for a quote.

The Complete Blueprint Asset Best for those who want the whole immersive experience, including 3D cinematic walkthroughs, lighting plans, and detailed planting drawings.

Can I buy the add-ons separately?

No. Our add-ons (Nocturnal Lighting Schematic, Regional Sourcing, and Digital Twin Update) are technical supplements designed to work specifically with our core design packages. They cannot be purchased as standalone products.

What if I don't like the design?

Our process is collaborative. We start with a detailed questionnaire and analysis of your style preferences (your "Mood Board"). The Signature Layout and Complete Blueprint Assets include one round of minor revisions to tweak the design. Significant changes or complete redesigns after the initial concept presentation may incur additional fees.

Will the plants actually survive in my garden?

Yes. We don't just pick plants that look good; we use horticultural data from Shoot Gardening to verify that every species is suited to your specific soil type (Clay, Chalk, Loam), aspect (North-facing, South-facing), and local climate.
