Why do I Work with Glass?
Sempre me encantei com o fogo, vendo as chamas se moverem e consumirem coisas. Achei incrível como poderia transformar algo em nada além de cinzas.
Cerca de 14 anos atrás, por pura sorte, aprendi que as pessoas podiam manipular vidro em uma chama com uma tocha e fazer belas artes. Peguei o equipamento básico e comecei a brincar em torno de vidro derretido. Eu devorei cada livro, post no fórum e vídeo que pude encontrar sobre o que aprendi era chamado de lampwork. Esta gloriosa forma de arte capturou meu coração. Comecei com vidro macio, depois fiz uma pausa de um ano e comecei a voltar com vidro borossilicato.
Eu me apaixonei por como o vidro se move e flui. Aprendi que às vezes me diz o que quer ser, em vez do contrário. Aprendi a olhar ao meu redor e me inspirar na natureza e nas pequenas coisas que vejo ao meu redor. Adoro o que faço. Eu amo ser capaz de criar e eu tenho um tempo muito difícil com o trabalho de produção e, portanto, cada item que eu faço é único.
Na minha jornada, decidi que seria ótimo me conectar com outros que também tinham a mesma obsessão que eu. Isso me levou a começar um site chamado Lampwork Etc.(www.lampworketc.com) para Artistas de Vidro. É uma comunidade onde os artistas podem compartilhar, aprender, obter inspiração e se conectar com outros que também amam vidro.
I have always been enchanted by fire, watching the flames move and consume things. I thought it was amazing how it could transform something into nothing except ash.
Around 14 years ago, through sheer chance, I learned that people could manipulated glass in a flame with a torch and make beautiful art. I got the basic equipment and started playing around melting glass. I devoured every book, forum post, and video I could find on what I learned was called lampwork. This glorious art form captured my heart. I started with soft glass, then took a year break and started back up with borosilicate glass.
I fell in love with how the glass moves and flows. I learned that it sometimes tells me what it wants to be, instead of the other way around. I learned to look around me and be inspired by nature and the small things I see around me. I love what I do. I love being able to create and I have a very hard time with production work and therefore every item I make is unique.
In my journey, I decided it would be great to connect to others who also had the same obsession as me. This led me to start a website called Lampwork Etc.(www.lampworketc.com) for Glass Artists. It is a community where artists can share, learn, get inspiration, and connect with others who also love glass.
