Todo empezó con un trozo de mármol.
No era una losa pulida como las que se ven en los vestíbulos de los hoteles, sino una losa tosca y de aspecto común que encontré en el almacén de un cantero. Al darle la vuelta, vi las vetas: delicadas líneas grises que recorrían la piedra blanca como humo congelado. Más tarde supe que esas vetas se formaron a lo largo de millones de años, un registro de los movimientos y asentamientos de la tierra mucho antes de que los humanos la pisaran.
Me llevé aquella losa a casa. La moldeé, la lijé y la pulí a mano durante horas. El resultado fue una bandeja: sencilla, pesada, fría al tacto. Guardaba mis llaves y monedas sueltas. Pero también captó mi atención. Cada vez que la miraba, recordaba que era antigua. Que había esperado en la oscuridad a que yo la encontrara.
Así fue como empezó Trueround.
**El mármol**
Todas nuestras bandejas de mármol están talladas en piedra natural procedente de canteras del sur de Europa y Asia. Nunca utilizamos resina ni piedra artificial. Lo que ve es la esencia de la naturaleza. Cada bandeja se pule a mano hasta obtener un acabado liso y mate, suave al tacto pero lo suficientemente resistente para el uso diario. El veteado de cada pieza es único: nunca recibirá una bandeja igual a la de otra persona.
**La porcelana**
Nuestras tazas de Jingdezhen provienen de un único taller en la ciudad que dio al mundo la porcelana. Los hornos de Jingdezhen llevan funcionando desde la dinastía Song, y los artesanos con los que trabajamos forman parte de una tradición ininterrumpida de maestría cerámica. Cada taza se elabora en torno o a mano, y luego se esmalta en pequeñas cantidades. Las ligeras variaciones en la forma y el esmalte son intencionadas: son la huella de un artesano, no de una máquina.
**Por qué hacemos esto**
Vivimos en un mundo de cosas idénticas. El mismo teléfono. Los mismos muebles. La misma taza de café blanca en mil escritorios.
Creemos que hay otra manera.
Un objeto con historia —geológica o cultural— cambia la forma en que experimentas una habitación. Te hace bajar el ritmo. Te hace fijarte en los detalles.

It started with a piece of marble.
Not the polished kind you see in hotel lobbies, but a rough, unremarkable-looking slab I found at a stonemason's yard. When I turned it over in my hands, I saw the veins—delicate grey lines running through the white stone like frozen smoke. I learned later that those veins were formed over millions of years, a record of the earth shifting and settling long before humans ever walked on it.
I took that slab home. I shaped it, sanded it, polished it by hand for hours. What emerged was a tray—simple, heavy, cool to the touch. It held my keys and loose change. But it also held my attention. Every time I looked at it, I remembered that it was ancient. That it had waited in the dark for me to find it.
That's how Trueround began.
**The Marble**
All our marble trays are cut from natural stone sourced from quarries in southern Europe and Asia. We never use resin or engineered stone. What you see is what the earth made. Each tray is hand-polished to a smooth, eggshell finish that feels soft to the touch but is durable enough for daily use. The veining on every piece is unique—you will never receive the same tray as anyone else.
**The Porcelain**
Our Jingdezhen cups come from a single workshop in the city that gave the world porcelain. Jingdezhen's kilns have been firing since the Song Dynasty, and the craftsmen we work with are part of an unbroken lineage of ceramic mastery. Each cup is wheel-thrown or hand-built, then glazed in small batches. The slight variations in shape and glaze are intentional—they are the signature of a human maker, not a machine.
**Why We Do This**
We live in a world of identical things. The same phone. The same furniture. The same white coffee mug on a thousand desks.
We think there's another way.
An object with history—geological or cultural—changes the way you experience a room. It slows you down. It makes you notice.
