BABY (AND OLDER CHILD) TWINK

With this e-book you can create the Mariengold doll Baby Twink yourself. I also offer a suitable doll making kit as a start-up.

The e-book contains patterns for the doll sizes 30 cm and 45 cm, directions for Twink's diaper as well as bonus patterns for dolls in the sizes 30 cm, 40 cm and 50 cm that compared to Baby Twink resemble rather older children.

Baby Twink has a plump and round body, bent arms and legs, and fluffy hair that can be combed with a baby brush. Additional details include the ears, the low lying eyes, the small dimpled mouth, the small nose, the belly button, the bottom, and the slightly spread legs which allow enough room at the crotch for a bulky diaper. With its extra body weight, Baby Twink nestles well in children's arms and can be carried around like a real baby.

The doll pattern incorporates concise body parts such as the hips, the thigh and calf, the upper and lower arm, and the buttocks, joints and feet. In this design, the arms and legs are sewn into the stomach from the inside of the doll and in their finished state can be easily moved. Twink has a buttocks and can sit unaided. The doll also has feet with heels and wide rounded edges, which accommodate shoes well, and nice big hands, which can be grasped well by children.

The facial characteristics of the doll are designed simply, but with a richness of detail. The face is embroidered and has a reserved, or minimal, expression. The eyes sit somewhat lower in their eye-sockets, the mouth has a small dimple and a nose and ears are present. The hair is made using soft mohair. It is formed by the use of a wig-cap, which is crocheted using a special technique, by which the outer side of the wig is made to be so fluffy that it resembles natural baby tufts.

The recommended age group for dolls like Baby Twink is for children 3 years and up.

LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY AND REQUIREMENTS

The making of Baby Twink is suitable for beginners.

Basic knowledge in sewing indeed facilitates the entry into doll making, but it is not necessarily needed, as the most important techniques are explained at the beginning of this manual.

For the wig you need to be able to crochet.

The making of Baby Twink especially offers those of you, who have already sewn the Mariengold doll from my first e-book, the opportunity to expand and refine your skills. In comparison to Mitzi, Baby Twink has many details and is put together using other patterns and techniques.
