PIP
With this e-book you can create the Mariengold doll Pip yourself. I also offer a suitable doll making kit as a start-up.
The e-book contains patterns for the doll sizes 20 cm and 30 cm as well as directions and patterns for Pip's clothes.
Pip is a simple little doll. The body is sewn using one piece of material, whereby the arms and legs are tied, or rather, stitched off so that the limbs remain movable and so that the doll is able to sit. The pattern affords for distinctly pronounced hands and feet, whereas the other body contours are simply implied. Pip is pure and simple.
The facial features are also left very simple in form. The face is embroidered and has a friendly but modest expression. The doll hair is made using mohair yarn. It is created using a wig cap, into which hair strains are knotted into, which are in turn braided into two thin pigtails.
Jointed dolls to be dressed and undressed are generally recommended for children 3 years and up. Simple dolls like Pip, without much hair flying about and with plainer clothing that can be easily changed by smaller children's hands, are however also suitable for younger children.
LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY AND REQUIREMENTS
The making of Pip is very suitable for beginners.
Basic knowledge in sewing is not necessarily needed, as the most important techniques are explained at the beginning of this manual.
However, basic knowledge in crocheting will be needed for the creation of the wig.
MARIENGOLD E-BOOKS
My e-books are detailed, professionally laid out directions for the creation of dolls according to Mariengold designs. They contain step by step explanations with lots of pictures and detailed descriptions, clear illustrations and explanations of the most important sewing techniques, patterns for several doll sizes and for first clothing like underwear or diapers, extensive notes and sources on materials and tools, background information and stories from the Mariengold studio and of course lots of encouraging words for your work.
