Girls' dress or tunic pattern for jersey knit fabrics
The "divided dress" has many variations and options for nearly all seasons and occasions.
The front is rather simple, which suits also older school girls just fine.
A dividing seam in the front middle enables you to realize interesting pattern effects - this looks especially good when made from striped fabric.
In the back the dress surprises you with a slightly ruffled skirt. This makes the dress more comfy.
Alternatively, you can of course sew the dress with a simple back piece without any ruffles.
You can choose between a dresses' length (above knee) or a tunic length.
For a sporty look, you can add the optional hood – which makes a great beach dress (when using french terry or similar).
Also you can choose between long and short sleeves and short tulip sleeves.

Fabric recommendation:
Jersey knit fabrics oder interlock (cotton with or without spandex / elasthane).
Also lightweight sweatshirt fabrics, nicky / stretch velvet, stretchy french terry are suitable.
Please don't use wovens / non stretchy fabrics.

All measurements are in centimeters / meters, all instruction texts in the e-book are in GERMAN language.

The EU-sizes used convert approximately to these US-sizes:
68=6M • 74=9M • 80=12M • 86=18M • 92=2T • 98=3T • 104=4 • 110=5• 116=6 • 122=7 • 128= 8 • 134=9 • 140=10 • 146=11 • 152=12 • 158=13 • 164=14 • 170=15
European sizes are based on children’s height. If you know your child’s height, just convert it from inches to centimeters and select the EU size according to the height.
Please be aware that these are digital PDF-files you have to print yourself (“ebooks“), you will not receive a paper pattern via mail.
This pattern is optimized for DIN A4 paper, most will work fine on letter size paper as well.

Sizing on this pattern was WAY off!!! I made the 1st bodice according to the pattern. It wasn’t even close. The 2nd bodice I put together was STILL SNUG even after going up 4 sizes!!! I eventually added an 1 1/2” strip to each side seam just so it would fit. My granddaughter is normally a US size 6…with this pattern she’s a US size 12. And also…. I used stretchy knit for the bodice. The skirt had much fewer issues. Good luck on your efforts!!!!

I wish I knew this sewing pattern was meant to overlocker edges/zigzag edges before assembling the pieces. I don't like using my overlocker or the look of zigzag stitches on single layer lightweight fabrics with my sewing machine. So, I added wider seam allowances and used French seams and flat felled ones connecting the yokes. The thicker seams of the yoke made the hem slightly shorter in the middle front. Because the back neck facing piece was meant to be overlocked that piece couldn't be used. It would reduce the width of the back shoulder seams. I used bias tape instead and slip stitched it inside and it looks fine. Making the shoulder seams wider might make regular seams work. Next time I'll ask a seller if a pattern is meant for an overlocker before purchasing.
