RustiKate is vrijwel alleen ik, en mijn naam is Katy.

Voorheen een tijdschriftstylist, naaister, how-to-expert, tatting-instructeur, model en fotograaf voor de publicaties van MaryJane Butters (zoals het tijdschrift "MaryJane's Farm", "MaryJane's Stitching Room", enz.). Tegenwoordig een auteur, instructeur en freelance, freestyle, artistieke geest. Ik heb een passie om te creëren, te onderwijzen en te delen.

Opgegroeid in het land, op een nogal moderne pioniersmanier, dwaalde ik vrij door weiden en bossen op zoek naar wilde bloemen en vlinders. Vanuit zo'n begin komt verbeelding, creativiteit en waardering voor eenvoudige dingen vanzelf. Tot op de dag van vandaag verwonder ik me over de simplistische complexiteiten, de schoonheid en texturen, van handgemaakt, eco chic, vintage, gerecycled, gerenoveerd, hergebruikt, gerestaureerd en het rustieke. En ik zie grote waarde in het ongewenste, afgeworpen en gebroken. Er is veel waarde in het creëren en herscheppen, het toevoegen van kleine stukjes schoonheid en vreugde aan de wereld. Via RustiKate hoop ik je op een of andere kleine manier aan te moedigen, te inspireren en te motiveren, door wat ik maak en deel; dat jij op je beurt, op je eigen speciale manier, hetzelfde kunt doen voor anderen.

RustiKate: is een term die verwijst naar met pensioen gaan naar het land, rustiek worden in stijl of gedrag, om te veranderen, aan te passen, te veroorzaken om te veranderen; anders maken; een transformatie veroorzaken.

RustiKate is pretty much just me, and my name is Katy.

Formerly a magazine stylist, seamstress, how-to expert, tatting instructor, model, and photographer for MaryJane Butters’ publications (such as “MaryJane’s Farm” magazine, “MaryJane’s Stitching Room”, etc.). These days an author, instructor, and freelance, freestyle, artistic spirit. I have a passion to create, teach, and share.

Having grown up in the country, in rather a modern pioneer fashion, I freely wandered meadows and forests in pursuit of wildflowers and butterflies. From such a start, imagination, creativity, and appreciation of simple things, comes natural. To this day I marvel at the simplistic complexities, the beauty and textures, of handmade, eco chic, vintage, recycled, refurbished, repurposed, restored, and the rustic. And I see great worth in the unwanted, cast off, and broken. There is much value in creating and recreating, adding little bits of beauty and joy to the world. Through RustiKate, I hope in some small way to encourage, inspire, and motivate you, by what I create and share; that you in turn, can, in your own special way, do the same for others.

RustiKate: is a term that refers to retiring to the country, becoming rustic in style, or behavior, to alter, modify, cause to change; make different; cause a transformation.
