Highlights
In mythology Psyche is the wife of Eros (Cupid) but their tale is a complicated one. Psyche was thought to be one of the most beautiful women in the world so the people of her village paid her tribute and rebuffed the goddess Venus. As oft happens in ancient tales, the goddess (or god sometimes) gets angry and wants revenge. Venus sends her son Eros down to earth to strike Psyche with an arrow and make her fall in love with a hideous monster. Eros accidentally scratches himself with the arrow and falls in love with her instead. He disobeys his mother and marries her himself (though Psyche doesn't know who or what he is). Trials and tribulations ensue but the story ends with them happily together. If you haven't read the entire story, I recommend looking it up. It's quite the twisty adventure with a bit of mayhem thrown in along the way.
Ring cabochon measures 18mm x 13mm and is magnified by a glass cabochon. Ring is about a size 7.5 but is adjustable.
