Beautiful Patchwork Quilt, Shades of Blue, Square Patchwork Design, Handmade, Quilted, 56.5” (143cm) x 64” (162cm) approx.

Here we have made a stunning quilt / throw / picnic blanket using a range of fabrics from the highly respected company Moda. The range is called 'True Blue' and is designed by Zen Chic (Brigitte Heitland). It consists of many quality 100% cotton fabrics in various shades of blues with grey, white and hints of ochre. Reading about the fabric on the Zen Chic website, the description of the fabric summarises it wonderfully: 'True Blue captures all the different hues we love about jeans – from white over a pastel washed-out blue to powder blue, classic indigo to darker shades like midnight blue and nearly black. Modern reminiscences of Dutch Delft tiles make for beautiful floral prints. Combined with medium-scale coordinates that are part geometric – part organic and with small-scale blenders, Zen Chic’s True Blue offers everything a quilter’s heart – or a denim lover – could want.' The quilt does look like denim but it is made from soft quality quilting cotton!

We have used a bundle of all of the True Blue fabrics in the collection (all quality soft 100% cotton) to make the quilt top in an eye-catching yet timeless square within squares design. A blue 'bubble' effect border finishes the patchwork top nicely. The patchwork top has then been professionally quilted by us to an 80% cotton, 20% polyester wadding and the geometric circle / stripe grey backing called 'Heartbreaker' by Libs Elliott. We used a pale denim coloured thread for the quilting and a geometric circle design which we felt echoed some of the prints. A blue binding matching the border has been added and stitched down by hand on the reverse side for an invisible finish. This finishes the quilt perfectly. Each stage in the quilt-making process, from fabric selection to cutting, sewing and quilting, has been completed with a lot of love, care, time and attention to create a beautiful piece that should last for many years with the right care (care instructions will be included). We are a mother and daughter team hand-making quilts and other textiles from my Mum's sewing room and we love to think that our quilts, sent far and wide, will bring some comfort and happiness whenever they are used.

It is a large throw size, 56.5” (143cm) x 64” (162cm) approx. This quilt would suit many colours and styles of decor and would be a lovely accent piece in many spaces. It could be used indoors as a throw or blanket, or even outdoors as a picnic rug. It would make a great gift for someone who appreciates handmade items.
