Tips & Tricks to use PatsyPutty:

PatsyPutty works great in both single and multi-placers, as well as on all specialty drills.

It will not hurt your putty to put the whole pack in the fridge before use. This is especially helpful if the temperature is hot outside and you want to use it immediately when you receive it, or if the temperature is warm where you store it. (Cooler, stiffer putty performs better than warmer, softer putty in my opinion. I store mine in a mini fridge in my diamond painting area.)

It is highly recommended that you press your pen tip directly into the putty to load it. Then, use your other hand to hold the putty in place on the paper and with a firm grip pull your pen tip out quickly. I recommend this method for multi-placers as well; however, if you are using a multi-placer larger than a 4-placer I suggest gripping the actual placer when you pull the tip out. This also helps keep your putty shape looking nicer! You can pull a piece of the putty off with tweezers, but you may experience stringiness.

After loading the putty in your pen tip, it is so imperative to clean off the excess. When loading a multi-placer, you can run your fingernail or your tweezers across the sides and the top to remove any putty outside the tip. Otherwise, putty can stick to your canvas, or pick up extra drills. As you use the putty, peaks form, especially if you are a hard presser. The higher the peak, the closer the putty gets to the glue on your canvas. This is something to be aware of before it gets tall enough to surpass the drills and leave residue. The peaks also make it harder to pick up diamonds. I recommend using pointed tweezers to tuck the excess back inside (like tucking in a shirt that has become un-tucked) and then turning the tweezers on their side and using the end to flatten the peaks again.

You can glue some drills onto a piece of cardboard or release paper and use it to press down a couple of times so that any further excess putty will squish out and can be removed before you start placing drills.

If the putty is too sticky, I recommend either pressing it on some fabric or in a tiny amount of cornstarch a couple of times to dull it a bit. You only need the tiniest amount. You can also dip your fingertip into cornstarch, tap it off, and run it across the loaded tip.

If the putty becomes dull, before replacing it, you can remove it from the tip and manipulate it around between your thumb and finger and then reload the pen for longer use.
