Ho iniziato con alcune carte fatte a mano delle mie illustrazioni che avevo fatto da alcune fotografie storiche in cui mi sono imbattuto mentre cercavo soggetti da dipingere. Li ho portati in alcuni studi aperti e alla gente sembravano davvero piacere, quindi ne ho fatti di più. Mi piaceva molto l'idea di fare arte che le persone condividessero tra loro e potessero essere vendute a un prezzo abbastanza basso che le persone che normalmente non comprerebbero arte possono permettersi. Le immagini sono volutamente non troppo dettagliate in modo che, anche se queste immagini sono basate su persone reali, puoi vedere te stesso o i tuoi cari nelle figure.
Ho imparato da sola a serigrafare perché amo le magliette intelligenti e / o visivamente sorprendenti. Adoro anche l'idea che le persone indossino la mia arte e che l'immagine o il messaggio si connettano abbastanza con loro da visualizzarlo sul loro corpo.
Stampo a mano ogni maglietta da solo e faccio a mano ogni carta e incornicia a mano ogni stampa. È importante che ci sia qualcosa di me stesso in ogni pezzo che vendo.
I started with a few hand made cards of my illustrations I had done from some historic photographs I stumbled across while looking for subjects to paint. I took them to some open studios and people really seemed to like them, so I made more. I really liked the idea of making art that people would share with each other and could be sold for a low enough price that people who would not ordinarily buy art can afford. The images are deliberately not too detailed so that, even though these images are based on real people, you can see your self or your loved ones in the figures.
I taught my self how to screen print because I love clever and/or visually striking t shirts. I also love the idea of people wearing my art and that the image or message would connect enough with them to display it on their body.
I hand-screen print every t shirt myself and hand-make every card and hand-frame every print. It is important that there is something of myself in every piece I sell.
