Life is meant to be beautiful!
Aisthesis Studio creates beautiful experiences through design, the arts, and music. As a designer, artist, & musician, Lydia Underwood searched for a name for her studio that would be inclusive of both the visual and auditory arts, a name that would honor the gift of sensitivity.
Aisthesis (pronounced like “eyes they sees”) means perception from the senses — feeling, seeing, hearing — as well as the intellect.
Creative interpretation in the arts has always been a part of Lydia Underwood’s DNA – from regular private lessons and varied 3D projects as a child to degrees in Interior Design and Harp Performance in college. In 2013 she began working at a boutique interior design firm (LYNE, LLC) specializing in hospitality where she enjoyed 10 wonderful years and realized her dream of becoming an indispensable part of a design firm. There Lydia contributed to projects such as the Parke West in Nashville, Dream Hotel Nashville, and Westhaven Residents Club in Franklin. Desiring to use her other creative skills on a more regular basis, Lydia decided to take the leap of opening her own studio in 2022.
In her designs, Lydia seeks to reinterpret the uniqueness of historical (or vintage) elements in a relevant and respectful way. She enjoys the challenge of creating a cohesive space by the collection of complimentary elements. Lydia is passionate about re-use, sustainability, and quality over quantity. The global fair trade movement is very near and dear to her heart.
