About me and my work

Once upon a time in the GDR...

I was born on 19.12.1984, in a country that can no longer be found on any current map and in a city that could not be grayer with its crumbling facades and broken houses. I grew up in an old building in Pieschner with daring electrical wiring on Weimarische Straße and discovered my passion for painting very early on. My family recognized my urge to slip into the imagination and supported me with all kinds of colors, books and painting surfaces. Since my father himself was very artistically gifted, he taught me how to use oil, pastel and watercolor paints. The pickling turpentine fumes did not change the desire to earn my rolls later with the painting.

Water, the recurring element

In many of my motifs, the element of water plays a major role. Sometimes wrapped in a wintry dress or resting in the streets of the new town. Anyone who now believes in a connection with the flood of 2002, which hit Dresden, is wrong. Rather, it is my longing for the maritime, the Rügen beaches in autumn and the sweet sweet wanderlust which is reflected again and again in the spray. Here is a part of my heart at home and thus this longing can be found in many of my motifs.

The water is a friendly element for those who are familiar with it and know how to treat it. (Johann Wolfgang von Goethe)

Living and working in Dresden's Neustadt

I call the Dresden Neustadt my home and it inspires me again and again to my motifs or to new projects. Such a colorful variety of people who clash and mostly live and interact peacefully and relaxed with each other is not so often found in the world. The casual nature of the people and the village character of the neighborhood are ideal for new stories, which are then reflected in my pictures. Here you know each other, exchange ideas and find ways to implement crazy ideas together.
