I started my first stitching project when I was 8 years old. He was a little grey cross-stitch mouse, and I worked tirelessly and lovingly on him for a week before I asked my mom to finish him. I miss him every day and wonder if he still thinks about me too.
This shop started with a simple tradition. As a Marine wife, I regularly have to say goodbye to dear friends as my husband moves from unit to unit and base to base. I started to make hankies embroidered with the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor as farewell gifts for my ladies. That might seem like an impractical gift to most, but military spouses will tell you that there always seems to be a good reason to well up with tears--sadness, joy, frustration, relief, loneliness laughter. I always sent my gifts off with the hope that they'd catch more happy tears than sad ones.
I'd toyed with the idea of selling my pieces for years but could never quite get started. And then I had an idea that lit a fire within me--what if I opened a shop that gave something back to the military community to which my family belongs?
I am now on a mission to use my craft to help others. When you buy a piece from my shop, I will donate every penny to Semper Fi Fund, which offers assistance to wounded, injured, and critically ill service-members from all branches of the U. S. Armed Forces and their families.
