Announcement    PRESS RELEASE PRIDE ART GOES TO THE KNAST 2.0
Now it's out - PRIDE ART goes to "THE KNAST"!
Lars Deike and Aaron Holloway are moving to "THE KNAST" with PRIDE ART with lots of art and many PRIDE ART artists! "THE KNAST", near the Botanical Garden, is the former historic women's prison and is a listed building! The 47 cells are distributed over three floors - the cells can be reached through corridors in a huge atrium gallery. "THE KNAST" was the location of BABYLON Berlin or the Monuments Men. "THE KNAST" unites all erotic secret fantasies - the perfect environment for PRIDE ART and its art!
Icon Chantal has already looked at and tested the new domicile. Art and party photographer Ingo Lamm accompanied the Berlin drag queen. Chantal - is one of the biggest fans of PRIDE ART - since the PRIDE ART artist group around the founder Lars Deike has been organizing exhibitions, she has hardly missed a vernissage! Be it in the PRIDE ART studios at Ostkreuz, the PRIDE ART satellite Brezel in the Schöneberg or in the satellite Taff Club in Charlottenburg, the exhibitions at the Motzstrassenfest, the Folsom Strassenfest, the PRIDE ART exhibition on propaganda in the Metropol on Nollendorfplatz or the PRIDE ART CSD exhibition in the Suicide Club - Chantal was there!
PRIDE ART turned into a non-profit association in February 2022. PRIDE ART would like to give their ARTISTS and their ART a new home. From May 2022, 28 artists will have the opportunity to rent an artist cell for working and exhibiting. Art should be created here and art should be exhibited here. The artists will also offer workshops by artists for artists or interested visitors. LIFE NUDE DRAWINGS - linolium courses, fashion shows, queer film evenings, theater performances, live concerts have already taken place in the PRIDE ART studios at Ostkreuz. Artists like OSHRI, BIANCA FOX, RODRIGO, VENIOR, Veronika Sololova, Dan Apus Monoceros were on the PRIDE ART stage. We will now continue this in "The KNAST" and the huge prison courtyard. At Easter, PRIDE ART will open the first exhibition on EASTER Berlin with exciting artists. From Wednesday April 13th to Easter Monday April 18th 2022 it's ART FULL!
Each cell will be dedicated to an artist. During the day art, which is led by the PRIDE ART artists, in the evening exciting events such as LIVE NUDE DRAWING - LIVE NUDE FOTO SHOOTING, JUNK - the queer film night with a star guest, a fashion show with TRASH BERLIN - and a fetish chamber concert. All dates can be found at www.guest-list.net
The exhibitions and guided tours are free of charge, but PRIDE ART and its artists are happy about a small voluntary cultural contribution. The evening events are chargeable. PRIDE ART CLUB members have free entry to ALL PRIDE ART events - all year round! Club members are also sponsoring members. Annual fee 69.69 EURO. Everyone who completes a membership by the end of April will receive a small ART surprise package with gifts and originals from our PRIDE ART artists!
The next goals - in addition to monthly PRIDE ART exhibitions in the main building "THE KNAST" - PRIDE ART also organizes exhibitions in our PRIDE ART satellites. Here we give our PRIDE ART artists and members of the association the opportunity for solo exhibitions. On March 5th is the first solo exhibition of our artist JENS KRAUSE in our PRIDE ART satellite in Wedding: Galerie the 5th People Project. Many exhibitions and artists follow. Other satellites in Berlin are e.g. in Kalckreuthstrasse and Fuggerstrasse in Schöneberg, Oranienburger Strasse in the Heckmannhöfe in Mitte. Further cities are being planned: PRIDE ART satellites in Munich, Cologne and Hamburg! All satellites are independent locations where PRIDE ART and the PRIDE ART artists are guests.
PRIDE ART – past
8 years ago Lars Deike had his studio in the cellar vaults of the old post office in the main street, the "THE TANK" in the BRICKS courtyards - in several rooms he began to capture male bodies on paper and canvas. He showed his art in numerous exhibitions. Fetish, eroticism were his main themes. He regularly exhibited at Europe's largest fetish event FOLSOM EUROPE. First he turned a hairdresser's shop into a gallery, exhibited in a tattoo shop on Fuggerstrasse - brought the fetish life to a veterinarian and showed his pictures in BREZEL Berlin. The gay and lesbian Motzstrassenfest, Easter Berlin, Folsom Berlin, Darklands in Antwerp, London Fetish Week, Fetish Pride in Gran Canaria – his works hung everywhere. Five years ago he moved his studio to Wiesenweg near the Ostkreuz. He created new works in a 150 square meter factory hall. In 2019 the first PRIDE ART exhibition took place. Lars Deike not only wanted to show his art, but also to share his studio or showroom in the Brezel with other artists. He organized group and solo exhibitions. He wanted other artists to beautify the walls with art. RON Kibble, Bianca Fox, Patrick Bartsch, Robert W. Richards showed their works with the help of ART PR. The PRIDE ART studio in Wiesenweg regularly organizes group exhibitions. As a trio of Aaron Holloway, Richard Schemmerer and Lars Deike, the exhibitions kept getting bigger and more successful. The PRIDE ART Atelier had fashion shows for Fashion Week, had film evenings with Zazie de Paris, Matt Lambert and Rinaldo Hopf, neighboring halls of a Berlin Trabi workshop gave us space for art festivals - PRIDE ART was part of the "Long Night of Pictures" of the Lichtenberg Culture Senate . Pride Art steadily increased its exhibiting artists. There were a.o.
Jack Sanders, Kenneth Anger, Jack Fritscher, Mavado Charon, Gio Black Peter, Wayne Hollowell, Ron L Kibble, Theo Große-Venhaus, François Harray, Michael Rädel, Callum Leo Hughes, Jörg Rautenberg, Thomas Abram Barker-Detwiler, Marcelo Paralta, Ken Borg, Tariq Alsaadi, Răzvan Lucian Bugnariu, Lars Deike, Aaron D Holloway Lee Campbell, Thodoros Brouskomatis, TEHEF, Eva Mueller, Ingo Lamm, Rinaldo Hopf, Kiernan Cobarrubia, Bev Stroganov, Daniel Marcel Schmude-Sterling, Patrick Bartsch, Victor Hensel -Coe, Jens Krause, Angelica Gawell, Disa Jo, Athalia Altmann and others.
Information about "THE KNAST":
From July 1, 2017, the new owners of this gem, a Berlin entrepreneurial couple, are looking forward to waking it up from its slumber gently and in accordance with the preservation order. Since the beginning of April 2016, Jochen Hahn has had the distinctive, old bunch of keys for the entrance gates and cell doors. In the last few years of vacancy, this prison was often used as a film set. Directors Tom Tykwer, George Clooney, Moritz Bleibtreu and Til Schweiger filmed there, says Hahn.
The prison was attached to the district court of Lichterfelde in 1906. From the outside, the ensemble with its aristocratic Renaissance architecture fits perfectly into the Lichterfeld villa area.
PRIDE ART will move into building C, the former cell wing, "this year step by step" against completion - the completion of a small boutique hotel with 9 rooms is planned for the end of 2022 and the construction sites will gradually disappear. Chamber concerts, theater performances, etc. have already taken place in a cupola hall.
There will be an upscale restaurant on the ground floor of "The Knast", flanked by food events and outdoor dining in the beautiful prison garden. The Knast is already the operator of the fine dining restaurant theNOname at Oranienburgerstrasse 32, right next to the synagogue in Mitte at Heckmann-Höfe and has already coined the motto #nolimitsnoboundaries!
