Life got in the way but...
I've wanted to learn stained glass for a long time but life got in the way. So finally in 2016, when my boys became taller than me, they got more chores and I got a little more free time. I took a Copper Foil course in 2016 and loved it. Since then I've taken an online leaded glass course as well. With a background in design and fine arts, I love the way I can play with different colors of glass and the way light changes the colors is great. Making a stained glass piece reminds me of quilting but with glass instead of fabric. I've always been a hands on, DIY type of person and stained glass is my hobby that's turning into a career.
(Update: As of November 2019, I was able to quit my "day" job and focus on stained glass. Thanks to all my customers for allowing me to make beautiful pieces for their homes!)
(2025 Update-I've started teaching stained glass at LexArt in 2024 and I've been having fun getting more people interested in stained glass)
All my stained glass panels are designed and created by me. I tend to like graphic designs(hence the name:)) especially mission, arts & crafts, and craftsman designs. Stained glass is so unique and each piece looks different during different times of the day depending on the sun. See something you like but in a different color? No problem. In the wrong size? No problem. I sketch out my ideas by hand, then draw them in the computer using Glass Eye 2000, so resizing is easy and the stained glass software allows me to preview different colors/textures before anything is started. I have lots of colors of glass to choose from to match any home. Special requests are always welcomed! Contact me at Graphixglassstudio [!at] gmail.com
