Video summary: Hier schneide ich gerade einen Schwarzdorn. Dieser trocknet im Stocklager bis 2022 und kommt dann in die Werkstatt zur Bearbeitung.

Traditional, handmade hiking poles. Jewellery in leather and 925 silver.

My passion for stockmaking began when I was eight years old. My grandfather Nikolaus was a stock maker as a sideline. We roamed the woods for hours to find the right specimens. A passion that, as with many, was lost in youth. When I started hiking ten years ago, I wanted a nice handmade walking stick. Disappointingly, I found only industrial mass production, such as.B the typical "chestnut flamed" and the like. This is also handmade, but with 400 pieces that you can make a day, for me that has little to do with what we do. These were the beginnings of my newly sparked passion for sticks. My sticks are not bought in stores and then processed. I collect all the sticks myself. They are stored for up to three years before they come to the workshop.

In the past, sticks were the sign of a gentleman. It would not have occurred to any man who was self-respecting to leave the house without his cane. Today he is often seen as a companion of old men. As I think far from it.

We like to hike premium trails in Saarland and Rhineland-Palatinate. A "third leg" is always a good help. Whether going uphill, crossing streams, hiking cross-country or repelling unleashed dogs, the right stick is a faithful companion. I only make sticks from local woods, no imported woods, no exotics. I would like to give you a companion who, like my grandfather's sticks, will accompany you throughout your life.

If you have the pendulum swing when walking out, you don't want to miss your stick anymore. By the way, a suitable stick offers a relief of the joints. It is a completely different feeling to use a handmade for me individually made matching stick than collapsible pleasure bells, whose environmental balance does not really shine.

If you are on the road in the Alpine regions, you will notice that the locals like to travel with "Staxlstecken" or "Alpenstangen", a usually man-high stick made of hazelnut. I also have alpine poles, but many of our customers prefer a half-height version. This is also suitable for leaning on in a well-deserved break, similar to the sticks of the shepherds or the sticks used in the Scottish Highlands.

I make all the sticks myself in more than thirty steps. From harvesting, drying, steaming, grinding and polishing to the insertion of the tip, all this is done lovingly and purely by hand in our small workshop. My leather handles are also a fine thing. Comfortable to the touch, vegetable tanned and a real statement with double-stitched saddle seam, which can only be sewn on by hand. For a large leather handle, I sew for more than three hours.

So if you appreciate traditional craftsmanship and do not want to walk through nature with a mass product, you should get a real companion once in your life. Who does not know the pictures of Prince Charles or the Queen in the Highlands. Of course, accompanied by a wooden stick with a horn handle or pictures of manor houses, where an umbrella stand with numerous hiking poles awaits at the exit.

Working with leather also led to my passion for leather jewelry. I only make our jewelry with leather from Germany or the EU and not with lacquered cheap leather from wherever. Here, too, I attach great importance to high quality and craftsmanship. I make all jewelry parts/earrings completely by hand myself. I only use 925 sterling silver from Italy and France.
In short, with me you acquire solid German craftsmanship.

I live
