Todo empezó con una pieza rota. Algo en casa se había quebrado y, por más que busqué, no pude encontrar un repuesto en ningún sitio; simplemente no existía la pieza exacta. Frustrado, compré una impresora 3D, pensando que arreglaría eso y me olvidaría del problema.
Pero aún no había terminado. Una vez que vi de lo que era capaz la impresora, no pude parar de buscar cosas nuevas que probar. Aprendí a diseñar mis propias piezas, a dominar los colores y los detalles, y finalmente empecé a imprimir objetos que la gente pudiera usar de verdad, y más tarde, objetos que la gente quisiera regalar.
Esa curiosidad se convirtió en algo que ahora hago a conciencia, en mi propio taller en Dublín. Imprimo todo yo mismo, capa por capa, y luego termino cada pieza a mano: lijo, aplico imprimación, pinto y conecto los LED donde es necesario. No subcontrato nada. Si está en este taller, lo he fabricado yo mismo de principio a fin.
Hoy en día, eso significa letreros luminosos con nombres, cajas de recuerdos, figuritas pintadas a mano que realmente se parecen a las personas en las que están inspiradas, llaveros y, lo más parecido a cómo empezó todo esto, piezas de repuesto para cosas que se rompieron y que ya no se pueden comprar en ningún sitio.

It started with a broken part. Something around the house had snapped and no matter where I looked, I couldn't buy a replacement anywhere - the exact piece just didn't exist for sale. Out of pure frustration, I bought a 3D printer, thinking I'd fix that one thing and be done with it.
I wasn't done with it. Once I saw what the printer could actually do, I couldn't stop finding new things to try. I taught myself to design my own pieces, figured out how to get colours and details right, and eventually started printing things people could actually use - and later, things people wanted to give as gifts.
That curiosity turned into something I now do properly, in a small workshop of my own in Dublin. I print everything myself, layer by layer, then finish each piece by hand — sanding, priming, painting, wiring up LEDs where needed. Nothing is outsourced. If it's in this shop, I made every part of it myself, start to finish.
These days that means glowing name signs, keepsake boxes, hand-painted figurines that actually look like the people they're modelled on, keychains and - closest to how this whole thing started - replacement parts for things that broke and can't be bought anywhere anymore.
