Frequently asked questions

1. Will I receive a physical product?

Both treasure hunts are digital downloads. You receive PDF files to print at home. No printed pack, book or craft materials will be posted.

2. How do I download my files?

Once your payment is confirmed, sign in to Etsy.com in a web browser, go to Purchases and select Download Files beside your order. Downloads aren’t currently available through the Etsy app. If you checked out as a guest, use the download link in your Etsy receipt email. Message me through Etsy if you need help.

3. Which files should I print, and are the extra activities optional?

Each hunt includes four PDFs: Instructions and Clues in both A4 and US Letter sizes. Choose the two files that match your paper; you don’t need both sizes. Each pair contains eight clue pages and ten instruction/activity pages.

You don’t have to complete every activity. Follow your hunt’s grown-up guide for the pages needed to play, then choose the optional colouring and spotting activities to suit your family. You can save the extra activities for another day.

4. What ages are the hunts for, and can children play together?

Both treasure hunts are designed for children aged 5–8. A grown-up sets up the trail and helps with cutting. Younger readers may need the riddles read aloud.

Siblings can follow one trail as a team, taking turns to solve the riddles and spot the hidden objects. A grown-up can read each clue aloud so everyone can join in.

5. What supplies will I need, and do I need to buy a prize?

You’ll need a printer, matching paper, scissors, a pencil and low-tack tape. Have a glue stick or suitable tape handy if you use the replacement riddle strips. Colouring pencils or crayons are optional. The footprints and feathers are included as paper cut-outs; no real feathers are needed.

There’s no need to buy a prize. Halloween ends with Henry on the included certificate. Christmas ends with the included cut-out star, with a certificate as an optional extra. You can add a small family treat if you wish, but it isn’t needed to play.

6. What print settings should I use?

Print single-sided at Actual size or 100%, using the files that match your paper size. Avoid “Fit to page” so the replacement riddle strips stay the correct size. Try one page first before printing the rest. The glitter-effect star is a printed design; you don’t need glitter.

7. How do I set up the treasure hunt?

Follow the grown-up guide in your Instructions PDF: page 3 for Halloween or page 2 for Christmas. It gives the answers and explains where to hide each next clue.

Give Clue 1 to the children without a marker. Place a printed footprint or feather beside each of the eight answer locations, keeping it visible and hiding the next clue nearby. The final location holds Henry’s certificate or the missing Christmas star. Follow the guide’s safety notes and outside-only instructions.

8. What if a hiding place doesn’t suit my home?

The pack includes alternative hiding-place suggestions and replacement riddle strips. Follow the swap guide and attach the appropriate strip over the original riddle. This lets you adapt the trail without needing to edit the PDF.

9. Can I edit or personalise the files?

These are ready-to-print PDFs, not editable templates. Names, illustrations and wording cannot be changed within the files. The included replacement riddle strips let you change selected hiding places as explained in the guide.

10. Can we play again, share the files or use them commercially?

The packs are for personal use only. You may print them for your own family activities, but please don’t share, upload, redistribute or resell the digital files. Classroom, group or commercial use isn’t included in the current licence; please message me before purchasing if that’s what you need.

You can keep the PDFs and reprint them for another family adventure. The included swaps let you change selected hiding places. Children may remember some answers, so take turns reading the clues or focus on the hidden-object spotting game when you play again.
