Siempre me habían fascinado los insectos (¡y a veces me aterrorizaban!), pero cuando me mudé al Panhandle de Florida mi interés se convirtió en un pasatiempo. De repente cualquier insecto callejero en el jardín se convertía en mi mascota y mi colección de ejemplares muertos se desbordaba. Aprendí lo fácil que es criar insectos en mi sala de estar y sus ciclos de vida me resultaron educativos para mí y para los demás. Sin embargo, fue un proceso muy experimental ya que no había mucha información útil sobre cómo mantener a los invertidos. Los insectos representan el mayor porcentaje de los organismos del mundo y, sin embargo, no sabemos prácticamente nada sobre ellos. Quiero compartir mi pasión con el mundo para cambiar eso, incluso si es un error a la vez.
I had always been fascinated by insects (and sometimes terrified!) but when I moved to the Florida Panhandle my interest exploded into a hobby. Suddenly any stray insect in the yard became my pet and my collection of dead specimens was overflowing. I learned how easy it was to breed insects in my living room, and found their life cycles educational for myself and others. However, it was a very experimental process as there was not much useful information out there on keeping inverts. Insects represent the largest percentage of the world's organisms and yet we know virtually nothing about them. I want to share my passion with the world to change that, even if it's one bug at a time.
