✨ Our Story — Nex Clay Studio
Nex Clay Studio è nato da un percorso profondamente personale.
Sono cresciuto a Jingdezhen, una piccola città cinese conosciuta come la "capitale della porcellana" da oltre mille anni. Durante la mia infanzia, il ritmo della vita era scandito da forni, argilla e fuoco. I miei nonni erano entrambi direttori di fabbriche locali e la ceramica non è mai stata per noi solo un oggetto, ma uno stile di vita.
Fin da piccolo, ho visto artigiani dedicare anni, spesso decenni, a padroneggiare quest'arte. La vera maestria nella lavorazione della ceramica non si acquisisce in fretta; occorrono almeno dieci anni di pratica per iniziare a comprendere il materiale, il fuoco e l'equilibrio tra controllo e imprevedibilità.
Quando mi sono trasferita negli Stati Uniti, ho fatto una scoperta sorprendente: sebbene la ceramica sia diffusa ovunque, la lavorazione artigianale della porcellana, autenticamente espressiva e radicata nella cultura locale, è rara da queste parti. Questa consapevolezza ha segnato l'inizio di Nex Clay Studio.

Noi di Nex Clay Studio portiamo la porcellana artigianale di Jingdezhen a un pubblico più ampio.

❤️ Perché è importante
Dietro ogni oggetto in ceramica c'è un artigiano.
E dietro ogni artigiano si cela una vita intera di dedizione.
Lavorare con l'argilla e i forni è fisicamente impegnativo. L'esposizione prolungata alla polvere e alle alte temperature spesso causa problemi respiratori e cutanei a molti artigiani più anziani. Eppure, molti continuano a lavorare semplicemente per amore del proprio mestiere.
Noi di Nex Clay Studio crediamo che preservare questa tradizione significhi sostenere le persone che la portano avanti.
Per questo motivo ci impegniamo a devolvere una parte dei nostri profitti agli artigiani della ceramica di Jingdezhen, contribuendo a migliorare le loro condizioni di vita e onorando le generazioni che hanno plasmato questo patrimonio.

Nex Clay Studio was born from a deeply personal journey.
I grew up in Jingdezhen — a small city in China known as the “Porcelain Capital” for over a thousand years. In my childhood, the rhythm of life was shaped by kilns, clay, and fire. My grandparents were both factory directors in local kilns, and ceramics were never just objects to us — they were a way of life.
From a young age, I watched artisans dedicate years — often decades — to mastering this craft. True ceramic mastery is not rushed; it takes at least ten years of practice to begin understanding the material, the fire, and the balance between control and unpredictability.
When I moved to the United States, I realized something surprising: while ceramics exist everywhere, truly expressive, culturally rooted porcelain craftsmanship is rare here. That realization became the beginning of Nex Clay Studio.

Working with clay and kilns is physically demanding. Long-term exposure to dust and high temperatures often leads to respiratory and skin conditions for many older craftsmen. Yet, many continue working simply out of love for the craft.
