Começando na alta escola eu tinha uma paixão de criar, e comecei a criar joias de contas - fazendo peças personalizadas para os clientes e fazendo minhas próprias criações para vender em feiras de artesanato e mercados. No entanto, eu cresci pessoalmente e através dos meus projetos nos últimos seis anos. Eu não entendia o apreço da minha mãe por tudo vintage e antigo. Nossa casa está cheia de móveis antigos, e embora seja bonito eu nunca entendi seu valor ou importância. Aos poucos comecei a perceber que todos os móveis que você compra na Target ou IKEA estão na moda e emocionantes... mas geralmente vai desmoronar com o desgaste normal ao longo de alguns anos. Meu quarto em nossa casa sempre teve estandes de TV e mesas balançando, mas o resto da casa tinha mesas de madeira maciça e armários que tinham passado séculos, e ainda era bonito, único e emocionante. Assim que percebi isso sobre móveis, rapidamente percebi as mesmas coisas sobre muitos outros aspectos da nossa cultura de vendas hoje. Uma coisa é inegável: as coisas não são feitas do jeito que costumavam ser. Então, por que brincar com todos os móveis medíocres e não originais/joias/obras de arte e etc? Eu preferiria ter algo que ninguém mais tem, e que nunca pode ser recriado em sua totalidade.

Foi quando encontrei minha vocação, minha própria torção para trazer o velho para o novo e torná-lo moderno e excitante de uma maneira totalmente nova. Vamos encarar, as lojas de hoje não fazem joias como antes. Joias de strass do passado às vezes tem algumas alterações de cor, mas acreditar que algo assim mudou em uma peça e que ainda é vibrante e deslumbrante à sua maneira é inegável. Se essas peças de strass podem ficar tão boas agora, então eu não posso imaginar como elas eram incríveis.

Escolhi o nome ReDefined para minha empresa porque não tento levar crédito pelo trabalho que já foi feito. As joias vintage de strass foram criadas lindamente e isso não é em parte devido a mim. Eu aprendo e forneo o máximo de informações que posso sobre uma peça que crio para o cliente. Se designers como Coro ou Sarah Coventry fizeram esses elementos vintage, então eu lhes dou crédito. Eu re-defino joias, fazendo broches e brincos que não seriam usados que comumente em sua intenção original hoje em algo novo, bonito e único. Eu levo o crédito por isso, eu levo o crédito por redefinir o que já foi feito, emparelhando-o com outros elementos vintage que elogiam uns aos outros e fazendo uma peça original que você pode ter certeza que é feita de algo que vai durar.

Starting in highschool I had a passion to create, and started creating beaded jewelry - doing custom pieces for customers and making my own creations to sell at craft fairs and markets. However, I have grown personally and through my designs in the past six years. I didn't understand my mother's appreciation for everything vintage and antique. Our house is filled with antique furniture, and although its beautiful I never understood its value or importance. Slowly I started to realize that all the furniture you buy at Target or IKEA is trendy and exciting... but will usually fall apart with normal wear and tear over a couple years. My room at our house always had wobbly tv stands and tables, but the rest of the house had solid wood tables and cabinets that had made it through centuries, and was still beautiful, unique and exciting. Once I realized this about furniture I quickly realized the same things about many other aspects of our sales culture today. One thing is undeniable- things aren't made the way they used to be. So why fool around with all the mediocre and unoriginal furniture/jewelry/artwork and etc? I would much rather have something that nobody else has, and that can never be recreated in its entirety.

That's when I found my calling, my own twist to bring the old into the new and make it trendy and exciting in a whole new way. Let's face it - the stores of today do not make jewelry like they used to. Rhinestone jewelry from the past sometimes has some color alterations but to believe that something like that has changed on a piece and that it is still vibrant and stunning in its own way is undeniable. If these rhinestone pieces can look this good now, then I can't imagine how amazing they were brand new.

I chose the name ReDefined for my company because I don't try to take credit for the work that has already been done. The rhinestone vintage jewelry was created beautifully and that is in no part due to me. I learn and provide as much information as I can about a piece I create to the customer. If designers like Coro or Sarah Coventry made these vintage elements then I give them credit. I re-define jewelry, making brooches and earrings that wouldn't be worn that commonly in their original intent today into something new, beautiful and unique. I take credit for that, I take credit for redefining what was already made, pairing it with other vintage elements that compliment each other and making an original piece that you can be sure is made from something that will last.
