Updates

Neuzugang in meinem Shop: Ich stelle die Flügelkette in mehreren Varianten her.

About SilkeSeip

On Etsy since 2018
Video summary: Im Video zeige ich die Herstellung eines Sternbild-Anhängers "Zwillinge".

Stony paths often lead to the most beautiful places

My mother always told me that my drawings had already attracted attention in kindergarten.
When drawing and crafting, I was in my world.
Nevertheless, I struggled for a long time with what is right for me.

After my training as a goldsmith at the State Drawing Academy in Hanau, I was employed by a jeweler for 10 years. I wasn't very happy with repairing chains and changing rings all day.
Today I am grateful for the experiences I have gained there.

In 2008 I started my own business. But since I didn't have a shop and only sold at craft markets, I had few orders. In the first few years I also invested a lot of money in a good workshop equipment.

In 2013 I decided to offer my jewelry on the platform "DaWanda".
That was the right decision!

Since the end of 2018 I have my online shop at Etsy. Because of all the ideas, I don't know where to start....;-)
I love to implement my own ideas and also to take care of the "trappings".
Photographing my jewelry, for example, is a lot of fun for me.

The most beautiful thing is when I have made a personal piece of jewelry that makes the customer happy and maybe even accompanies him for a lifetime.

2021: I am now supported by a small team:-)

Shop members

  • Silke Seip

    Owner, Werkstatt & Design

All jewelry in my shop (except "vintage" and necklaces for pendants) are designed, made and photographed by myself. In some work steps I am now supported by this small team...;-)

  • Wolfgang H.

    Handgravuren

There are tasks that my engraving machine cannot do. My tiny baptismal rings are engraved by him by hand. He is a master engraver and one of the last of his trade.

  • Wolfgang K.

    Guss

Wolfgang is actually a dental technician. He helps me cast my wax models in silver and gold.

  • Mady

    3D-Druck

Some pieces of jewelry are so detailed that they can only be created with the help of 3D printing.
Mady is a specialist in programming new designs!
This results in unique pieces or pieces of jewellery with a small support such as the wing chain.

Production partners

Schmuckkomponenten wie Ohrmuttern, Ösen und Verschlüsse, Kugeldraht

Frequently asked questions
About sizes

The safest way is to have the size measured at the goldsmith or jeweler.I need an exact diameter indication in mm (for example 17.3 mm) or the German ring size (gr.46-70). Since everything is made by hand, particularly small or large sizes or intermediate sizes are also possible (such as 53.5).To determine the ring size yourself, a so-called "multisizer" can be ordered in my shop. (Under "Measure ring"). In the article description of the "Multisizer" there are further tips for determining the ring size. In addition, I have shown a conversion table for international quantities there.

Care instructions

Different pieces of jewelry = different cleaning!Polished, smooth surfaces: silver cleaning clothMatt spots/recesses: commercially available silver bathImmerse yourself in it with a soft toothbrush, brush the jewel, then rinse well with water. It is important that no remnants of the chemical remain on or in the piece of jewelry, otherwise it will become even darker after a short time. Therefore, chains with cavity ( eg ball chains ) never completely immerse themselves in the chemical.Pearls as well as turquoise, coral and lapis lazuli should also not come into contact with the chemical.Chains with cavity: place in a bowl on a large piece of crumpled aluminum foil, add hot water and salt to it. Rinse everything well, dry.

Are there other conditions for resellers?

My jewelry is not mass-produced. I make every piece of jewelry by hand myself. From a certain order volume, I can grant a discount for resellers. If you are interested, please do not hesitate to contact me.As a rule, I do not give my jewelry on commission.

processed metals

1. High quality silver alloys:925/- (sterling) and 935/- silver (higher fineness with the same hardness)2. High quality gold alloys: 585/- (14kt) and 750/- (18kt)Yellow, white, red and rose goldI don't work with 333/- (8kt).Like most goldsmiths, I work sustainably and melt down work remnants to make new pieces of jewelry.

Packaging

I send all my jewelry in a pretty packaging. Either a cardboard box with my logo or a bag made of paper or fabric. Ready to give away;-)

Custom-made products and personalized orders

Since every piece of jewelry is made by hand, I am also open to your change requests.Whether a different stone color, a different size, a different material - many things are feasible. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me:silke.seip@arcor.de

Gold plating

A gold plating is a galvanic fine gold coating. It is at least 3 microns (0.003 millimeters) thick, which is about 15 times more than a simple gilding.Rings are exposed to a high load due to daily wearing. They come into contact with chemicals and objects. Therefore, a gold plating in rings (depending on the load) is removed over time.It is suitable for earrings and pendants, as there is almost no abrasion.
