Answering the Siren Call

I've been a singer my whole life, and my love of mermaid lore and Disney's The Little Mermaid led me into a life filled with siren fantasy! The Siren's Grotto was born out of my love of the sea, and my love to perform.

I am a Southern California native, and grew up just minutes from the beach! I was raised on the water, both basking on the sands of Newport Beach, California, and swimming in the waters of Lake Mead in Arizona, where my family vacationed every year from the time I was a baby. I still relish the occasional beach day and Lake vacation whenever I can get them, but now I stay busy as a recording artist, performer, actress and model, and regularly portray mermaid characters for both live events and photo/video shoots! Being the artsy girl that I am, I often get creative and make my own ensembles for these mermaid & princess escapades. After getting requests and inquiries to sell items like the ones I made for myself, I decided to give Etsy a go, and less than a year later I'd quit my "normal" day job waiting tables to design Siren mer-chandise instead! After the first few months of Siren's Grotto were a success, I quickly found my niche in my couture, Sea Star accessories. These are my signature items, and along with my couture wigs, are my most popular and in-demand products (aside from my clothing line and sister company, http://AdorkableApparel.com)! Eventually I expanded the Siren's Grotto to include my wig shop. I've been a wig stylist for well over 4 years now, specializing in character wigs, and it was only natural to include them in my collection here on Etsy. I think it's easier offering all of my costume items in one place.

THE GROTTO TEAM

I feel very blessed that the shop has been so successful, especially in regards to Sea Star Accessories and Wigs, that I have decided to bring on some help. I've recently hired on a wonderful Mermaid-Assistant named Amy. Amy is my dearest friend, and is trained in everything from correspondence and marketing, to Siren-design. Amy has assisted me with administrative and marketing tasks in regards to my music career for over 2 years now, and I am thrilled to have her join me in the Grotto as well!

The Grotto is also lucky to have Benjamin as head photographer. He often lends his talents to our product photography, (though other Grotto members and I occasionally handle that as well), and more frequently, Ben pioneers our promotional photo shoots. (Many of my own mermaid photos and prints in the shop are his work as well).

The newest Siren to join the Grotto is my dear friend and assistant, Nina Grace. Nina is my mer-sister and a connoisseur of all things mermaid and fairytale! She will be handling a fair amount of the Grotto messages and inquiries, as our official Director of Communications. Nina is in touch with me daily, and when I am often out of the Grotto on other business, she will be getting back with customers and inquiries, and can act as liaison when I am away. As I grow busier, opening up communication to another Siren has been been a necessary change we needed to make, and I can't think of anyone I would trust more with my amazing customers! Nina has been acting as my personal assistant and music/booking manager for the past few months, and she has been doing such a stellar job, I am thrilled she is willing to take on more mermaid biz here at the Grotto! Nina is also in the process of being trained to craft in Grotto fashion, and will be producing some of our products as well in the near future! Nina is much like me-a mermaid who loves to play in Neverland and get lost in Wonderland!

I (Traci) still sing, song-write, act/voice-act and model full time, and am currently recording my first full-length album, along with producing and starring in my new web-series (Life Lessons From A Hipster Mermaid), but I am thrilled to have a "day job" that consists of creating unique, sparkling treasures for other 'Sirens' to enjoy! They called and I'm answering.
