5 out of 5 starsWow! This cape is for the extravagant appearance! Beautiful sunny yellow, great quality, also the size fits. Since I have dress size 48, I asked to make the cape a little bigger. It fits perfectly! Is cuddly soft, just a dream! I am overjoyed! You won't find anything like that in any shop! A thousand thanks!
About THEKNITKID
THE KNIT KID
My name is Sabrina Weigt, and I live and work in Berlin, Germany. I make high quality knitwear and knitted accessories for my shop, THE KNIT KID.
After finishing my bachelor’s studies in fashion design, I knew I had one year before I started a master’s program. I had so much momentum from working on my thesis that I just kept going. There were many ideas and a lot of yarn waiting for me, and I just started doing whatever I thought was worth trying.
I’ve thought about selling my clothes for a long time, but I wasn’t comfortable selling something I wasn’t 100 percent satisfied with. Now I know what I’m doing; the clothes I’m creating are the best quality and I feel happy selling them.
I don’t have a constant process for how I work. I try to allow myself to just go with an idea, even if it’s against my better judgment. I’m just at the beginning of designing and I want to learn as much as I can. I follow different methods and try to stay open-minded every step of the way.
I learned very quickly that being creative and having a creative business are completely different things. The creative work is just a small percentage of what has to be done in a creative business. Sometimes it’s hard to get the creativity out because there isn’t enough time for it. I think this is how it is in the beginning stages of having a small business like mine. I am learning how to find a good balance.
My business is 100 percent me. I’m unique, and therefore my business is too. Right now, I don’t see a reason to think about the competition too much. I focus on what I think is important and do my best to realize my ideas. If that doesn’t work, I’ll find out soon enough.
Selling on Etsy means that I can sell to people all over the world very easily. Isn’t it just amazing to picture the sweater you made at home being worn in Japan? To me, it feels like my work is going out to discover the world.
Etsy also means getting to know creative people where I live. In Berlin, we have an Etsy Street Team, and we meet once a month to discuss business, organize events and just have fun together. I like how easy it is to get in touch with so many different people ,and I really appreciate the feedback you get from them. You learn a lot from the feedback. It is very motivating when you get the feeling people like what you do.
