Welcome in the word of Furry Critters. All my Furry Critters are designed and handmade by myself.
My name is Manuela Schulz and together with my husband, my two children and many animals I live in (Germany).
The "Furry Critters" world are imaginated critters and animals, whereby they should come as close as possible to the original. Since my childhood I have a focus on this, added by clay modelling and drawing.
Since 2006 I have sewn all kinds of creatures and with these I have won several awards, such as:
2008 Euro Teddy Award: 3rd place
2009 Golden George: 1st place
2009 Euro Teddy Award: 1st place
2010 Ted worldwide: 1st place
2012 Euro Teddy Award: 3rd place
2014 Euro Teddy: Life 1.place zoo Euro Teddy Award/ 2. place Publicum Award
My style or creations are very difficult to describe. On the one hand they are realistic animals and on the other hand odd phantasy creatures; ever and anon a combination of both. I try to animate "non realistic" creatures and I want them to appear alive, just as they´d run off any second.
Further ideas are given to me by books on phantasy and animals and by trips to the zoo plus the natural surroundings near to my home. Sometimes just a special fabric or a particular tin is enough to hit on an idea.
