I started woodcrafting 20 years ago for friends and family members which quickly escalated to pet portraits, watercolors and finally polymer clay items. I created colorful and cute animals, gnomes, fairies, dragons and wood land creatures mostly. As crazy as it sounds, each creation becomes part of my family. Each one is made with love and a desire to see each one come to life to bring a smile to all.
After moving to PA from MD, I stopped crafting for a couple of years and began working as a MA in a pediatrics office.
My children and husband had adjusted well to our new location (after some time) and seemed to be thriving unfortunatley I was not. Being away from family and friends, I found myself becoming increasingly depressed and lonely. At my husbands urging, I broke out my scroll saw, removed the dust and rust and got to work sketching new designs. I began selling crafts to friends in PA and BOOM, I was off and running. I realized at that time that I needed this outlet to keep myself healthy and sane. My husband knows me well.
A friend of mine (my manager at the time) told me about ETSY. I didn't look into this right away but this woman was an integral part of my recovery. Although she didn't know it, she restored my confidence in myself and brought me out of my comfort zone so I trusted her opinion. I would not be where I am today had it not been for this woman.
Once I had too many creations adorning my mantle and corners of my home (and my husbands need for space) I looked up Etsy and fell in love. What a wonderful way to share my creations with the world. Although I am always trying to create useful items or popular trending creations, I also create works that are out of the box such as my designer bears. Those creations become my babies, sometimes making it hard to part with but I stop and think they will bring a smile to someone that may need it as much as I do.
I currently only ship in the United States and Canada but am looking into expanding. I look forward to the day when I can craft full time and plan on being around for many years to come.
